GE Refrigerator: GE PFE29PSDASS Low Ice production, icebox fan moving air backwards!

Ice maker in the left french door at top. I noticed a week of very low ice production. I have full service manual and ability to do all diagnostic tests. The ice box fan is blowing but it is coming out of the RETURN port on the upper inside of the left fridge (lower slot) rather than the SUPPLY port (upper) I can blow air through either port and it comes strongly through the other so no obstruction. All other fridge fans working, keeping temperature well.

I swapped the icebox fan with a new one (doubt it would change and it didn't) My repair manual says the door control board controls the door icebox so I swapped the control panel with another identical fridge. Before swapping I confirmed that in the other fridge the air was coming out supply and slight suction present on the return holding a piece of paper up over it.

swapping the control board changed NOTHING on my fridge. Somewhere a control board must be sending a negative 12v signal instead of a positive 12v signal to make the fan run in reverse?

Do I swap out the main board next?

The only trouble code I have is Fault 10, FZ icemaker Mold Body Thermistor (MB) Invalid. I don't have a Freezer icebox so that code is confusing. But there is a thermistor in my icebox which is replaceable only by cutting and splicing wires according to the manual.

This sounds crazy but if the computer doesn't get a reading from the thermistor int he icebox could it think it is frozen or out of range and could the computer reverse the flow to try to let it 'thaw out' or is that a whacko idea?

I'm stumped!!

GE Refrigerator: GE Fridge is cold but Freezer is warm

I have a GE french door fridge with pull-out freezer underneath. The fridge is holding a consistent temperature between 34-38, but the freezer is hovering in the 50s - 60s.

The freezer fan works fine. There is no ice buildup anywhere. The condenser is clear of any debris or grime. I called an appliance guy who said it was likely a damper issue -- but this particular unit (Model GYE22GYNBFS) doesn't have a damper.

GE Refrigerator: GE PFE28KYNFFS Ice Maker Not Filling with Water

I have a GE PFE28KYNFFS French door fridge with an ice/water dispenser in the door. The ice maker in the door stopped filling with water. I replaced the ice maker with a Kitchen Basics 101 WR49X31524, and the ice maker worked properly for about a month then stopped filling with water again. I then replaced the ice maker with a genuine GE WR30X28731 ice maker assembly, and the ice maker again filled with water and made ice properly for about 30 days. Once again though, it stopped filling with water.

The water dispenser has worked fine throughout all this, and I have an ice maker in the bottom freezer that has also worked properly throughout the door ice maker failures.

Periodically I can also hear the fridge sound like it is attempting to fill it with water, but no water is ever dispensed into the tray of the ice maker assembly.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what may be causing this and how to fix it?

Ge Profile refregerator: mi refrigerador congela, pero luego hace escarcha y deja de congelar

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am experiencing a serious recurring issue with my GE Profile refrigerator, and I am looking for clear technical guidance.

Initially, the refrigerator was not freezing properly, and it was diagnosed that the evaporator fan was faulty. The fan was replaced, and after that repair the unit started freezing very well.

However, after several days of normal operation, excessive frost builds up in the freezer area (where ice is produced) and also on the interior back wall of the refrigerator compartment. When this happens, the refrigerator stops cooling, presumably because airflow is blocked by ice buildup behind the evaporator.

If I manually defrost the unit, it works correctly again for about 3–4 weeks, but then the exact same problem occurs again.

Based on this behavior, I strongly suspect a failure in the automatic defrost system (defrost heater, defrost thermostat/bimetal, temperature sensor/thermistor, or control board). Since the evaporator fan is new and the issue is cyclical, it does not appear to be an airflow or cooling-capacity problem.

I would greatly appreciate a proper technical diagnosis so I can guide the repair process correctly, as previous technicians have not been able to identify the root cause.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Kind regards,

GE Refrigerator GZS23HSE: What is wrong with my ice dispenser and how to fix?

Apologiges in advance--I wanted to give as much detail as I could:

When I moved in to my new apartment, I was told my ice machine/water dispenser would occasionally leak and it was due to a manufacturer issue that could not be resolved. I have been in the apartment for nearly 3 months now and just recently thought to try to use it for ice. Nothing happened and no noises were made. I decided to open the freezer and take out the ice box with revealed the power switch(the thing at the top--sorry I don't know what it's called) and long behold, it was turned off. I turned it back on, gave it 24 hours to reset itself and noticed it wasn't leaking at this point. When I attempted to make ice, it made noise and I could hear the ice fall, but it would not drop into my cup. So I looked up and into it and noticed the flap thing would not open all the way to let the ice drop into my cup. I then stuck my fingers up into it and barely moved it towards me and all the ice that originally dropped into the dispenser, fell right out. The flap closes back just fine after the ice has fallen out but doesn't when there is ice held inside. I don't know much about appliances so I'm guessing it's something to do with the flap but I'm not 100% sure. Could someone please give me advise on what to do? I feel like this is fixable and the technicians here either didn't know how to do so and just turned it off and blamed it on the manufacturer. Help? Thanks!

GE Refrigerator: Freezer display temp does not match actual temp

I have a GE profit refrigerator/freezer. The user interface displays the actual temp of the freezer as -9*, but the actual temp is 20*. I have replaced both thermistors and the control board. It is still doing it. I can put the user interface into test mode and everything tests normally. I set it to prechill mode and it will get to the correct temp in the freezer, and read the correct temp for a while. But ultimately the user display will go back to registering -9* as the actual temp but it will only be 20*.

Also, there are no leaks in the system. The coolant levels are normal. Does anyone have any ideas?

GE Refrigerator: Brand New GE GNE27JYMFS makes revving noise every 10 second or so

Just installed yesterday. Seems to cool fine. Motor running constantly and every 10 seconds or so it makes a short revving sound, like when you rev your car. Sounds like a fan trying to kick into a higher gear but not making it. Very annoying and distracting when trying to watch tv in the next room. Will call for a service call because I can't keep an appliance that sounds like this. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. And YES I read the whole manual and it doesn't describe this noise.

My refrigerator model is gfe28gmkbes

GE Refrigerator GFE26GMH: Fluctuating refrigerator and freezer temps

Picked up a non-working GE French door, freezer on the bottom frig - mode GFE26GMHEES. I replaced the upper and lower interior fans, and appears to be working as it should. Was going to run it for a week, before I put anything in it. Freezer is consistently -5 to -8 and refrigerator portion is around 32-35 degrees when I have checked it. However I have caught it twice when the refrigerator shelves were kind of fogged up, and temp was higher and closer to 50 (condenser fan not running). If I go back 30 min, condenser fan is running and it is back down to the -5 and 32 degree temps. Since I didn't own when it was working, but sure if this normal, and I am catching in a defrost cycle or something like that? Or do I have an intermittent issue?
