GE Profile Refrigerator: Why won't water dispenser and interior lights work on GE Refrigerator?

I have a GE PROFILE SERIES ENERGY STAR 22.1 CU. FT. COUNTER-DEPTH FRENCH-DOOR ICE AND WATER REFRIGERATOR BY GE APPLIANCES. Our refrigerator will dispense ice, but not water. Also, the interior lights in the refrigerator and freezer won't turn on when the doors are opened. We unplugged the unit last night and plugged it back in and it "reset" the refrigerator. Everything was working again, but then this morning the water again would not work and the lights inside would not turn on. We don't want to have to "reset" the fridge every 12 hours, so trying to figure out what the problem is. Going to have to call GE service, but we've heard bad things about them. Help!

GE Profile Refrigerator PFSS9PKY: Refrigerator Will not dispense water after replacing filter.

After replacing the filter on a GE Profile PFSS9PKY French Door water would not dispense. I put the old filter on and it worked fine. I have tried the Ge brand as well as another brand filter and had the same result. I followed the directions for filling the filter first with out success. The fridge would make a hammering noise only with the new filter which would then stop however no water would come out or sometimes very little water would come out at first then nothing. After a couple months with the old filter I tried again with the new filter and now water will not come out with either the old or new filter.

GE Profile Refrigerator PFCS1PJY: How to repair a pinhole leak in a GE Profile refrigerator water line?

There is a pinhole leak in the water line tubing at the rear of the refrigerator on the left-hand side (if I am facing the rear of the refrigerator) or on the right-hand side (if I am facing the front of the refrigerator). The water line tubing is the one that goes to the water dispenser in the front door of the refrigerator. I know this because I can see the water shoot out of the pinhole leak whenever I attempt to get a glass of water. Is it possible to cut out the section that has the pinhole leak and replace it using quick connect fittings? If so, what size water line food grade NSF/ANSI 61 tubing and quick connect fittings should I be using for the GE Profile PFCS1PJYCSS refrigerator?

GE Profile Refrigerator PFSS2MIX: 8 months of extreme fluctuating temperatures

Our GE Profile French Door refrigerator section will not stay cool.

Model No. PFSS2MIXA SS. Serial# 311204

It randomly warms up to temperatures as high as 68 degrees and has maintained such temperatures from half a day to three and a half days straight. All the while, the contents of the freezer have never defrosted. The freezer fluctuates between -8 and as warm as 28 degrees.

Technicians from a private company and GE appliance (most recently) have come out to service this appliance six times but the problem continues.

The first tech checked the back of the unit briefly and said everything looked fine. He later returned several times and replaced the control panel, the motherboard and fiddled with the oval shaped vent on the upper left side of the refrigerator. When that did not work, they refused to return and said there was nothing else they could do. Next, a GE Appliance tech took apart the freezer and replaced a thermistor inside the back panel. However, two days later, the temperatures were again too warm for several days.

He then advised us to keep large bottles of frozen water in the freezer to help prevent the entire appliance from getting too hot during defrosting cycles in the freezer, as not keeping enough solidly frozen items in the freezer may be causing the refrigerator to reach and maintain excessively high temperatures.

This ongoing issue has lead me to keep a temperature log and a photo journal of the temperature readings on the top panel because this appliance has appeared to run correctly all but once during previous repair appointments.

JUST THIS MONTH

Tech replaced demistor in the freezer 8/5

8/6 -4 and 50 degrees at 8:30am, -1 and 43 degrees at noon, 0 and 38 degrees at 3pm

8/7 2 and 39 degrees at 7am

8/8 maintained at setting (0 and 37 degrees)

8/9 maintained

8/10 -1 and 46 degrees 7pm

8/11 -6 and 54 degrees 2am

8/12 1 and 50 degrees 7am

8/13 0 and 60 degrees 3pm

8/14 -2 and 37 degrees 8am, 10 and 44 degrees at 2pm, 11 and 49 degrees at 4:45pm, 9 and 56 degrees at 7 pm

TODAY -2 and 36 degrees at 7a.m., -1 and 38 degrees at 8:30 am and, per the trend, I am sure it will just continue to climb higher as the hours pass. I can hear the appliance running but there are many times when it is dead silent.

All of the door seals are clean and not cracked, there is no dust around the bottom or back of the unit either.

The TurboCool feature does not seem to do anything at all.

During the first week of July the refrigerator section kept at 60+degrees for three and a half days before automatically cooling down to the set range of 0 and 37 degrees on its own.

At times when the unit does run within appropriate temperature ranges, the food in both refrigerator drawers freeze, as well as food kept on the middle shelves ( container of milk frozen solid, an onion and other veggies).

We no longer store raw foods in here because we cannot trust that items will be kept cold.

My inside water dispenser does not allow me to engage it (push it in) when I open the door to get water. There is no outside door dispenser only inside so every drop of water you get the door will be open. It happened once before and corrected itself the same day about 6 years ago, now it's permanently stuck and I'm not sure how to disassemble it to see what the issue is. The refrigerator still makes ice and the water line is not frozen (had those problems before and made adjustments to fix that issue). 2010 model year. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as to how to remove the water dispenser without breaking anything.....thanks.

GE Profile Refrigerator PVD28BYNB: motor noise powering up and down when opening door

My GE Profile refrigerator, model PVD28BYNCFS, has a louder-than-previous motor noise when opening the french door on the ice maker side only. I can now hear a clatter(?) as it powers up when opening and powers down when closed. It's only for a few seconds, and then it runs smoothly for the rest of the time.

When I'm behind the refrigerator, looking at the back, it appears to be in the lower right area. It is definitely not the ice maker.

GE Profile Refrigerator: Left side is warmer than the right side

I purchased this GE Profile PGE29BYTFS french door fridge a week ago. I have 2 problems in the refrigerator section only:

It never comes to the set temperature. Generally it is around 4 degrees higher than the set temperature. Is this normal for a fridge? I've never measured the internal temperature of a fridge before.

I can live with problem 1 by reducing it to the lowest, 34, but this is the most unacceptable problem. The left side of the refrigerator compartment is about 4 degrees higher than the right side. I've even removed all the items to make sure air flow is not blocked.

My observations: There is a long narrow vent on the back top of the compartment blowing cold air. I can feel it blows a strong stream of cold air on the right side and very little on the left side.

It seems this is the cause of the temperature difference. Are there 2 fans, one for each side? Or there is only one fan and some dampers are controlling the air flow?

Also, I was trying to find a service and repair manual for this model and could not find any. Where can I find a service manual for this?

Besides these problems, the freezer and the Temperature Select Zone compartments are fine.

It is indeed under warranty, but if the wrong technician comes, I'm worried it may create new problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

GE Profile Refrigerator PGCS1RKZ: GE refrigerator PGCS1RKZASS getting warm intermittently

Our refrigerator is getting warm intermittently. Fridge gets warm and freezer mostly seems to stay working, although has warmed a little a couple times but we have not had to pull the food out of it yet (can’t keep perishable food in the fridge. The compressor seems to be working, as well as the fan that blows on it (fast enough that can’t really see the blades). The fan in the back middle of the freezer seems to be spinning well enough too. There are two vents on the left side of the fridge that connect to the door with the ice maker, these vents sometimes get very warm (almost hot to the touch) as well as the area around them. It seems like this is connected to how warm the fridge is getting. When it warms up, it does it pretty quickly and gets to high 60’s by morning (happens often at night). I can usually get the refrigerator working again by messing with it, but haven’t found a consistent method. Sometimes I unplug it for a bit, sometimes just using “turbo cool” for a little while seems to get it going again. I have also put it in diagnostic mode and tried reset and a few other things. I have tried the command to toggle defrost cycle, but it is difficult for me to know what the current state is. Usually some combination of these things gets it working again. I thought it was the thermistor in the fridge but it seems to read the temperature okay and the diagnostic test for those said pass for all of them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

GE Profile Refrigerator PSHS6TGX: Water Dispenser - Only Works when Compressor Off

My water dispenser only works when compressor off. I replaced water solenoid and issue persists. Thinking maybe control board.

I've done extensive testing and I have determined that water only dispenses when compressor off. I was having an issue earlier and I thought it was due to water freezing. Now the problem is solid so easy to recreate.

Water won't dispense. I unplug fridge wait 10 minutes, plug in, turn on, try water and it works. Shortly thereafter compressor kicks in and water stops. When fridge reaches desired temp compressor will turn off, (I've sat and waited). Once compressor off water flows, no issue. If I open fridge door and force compressor on, water stops. Closed door, still no water. Wait for compressor to turn off, water flows.

This has me thinking that door switch is okay, and no broken wires. Remember I can unplug fridge, wait 10 minutes plug in and water flows. As soon as I hear compressor water stops.

Thoughts on what this might be or another test I should run to see if this is another component. Fridge and freezer run well, temps are controlled.

Any help would be appreciated.

GE Profile Refrigerator PFSS2MIY: Water Flow Slow to Start

I have a GE fridge where the water dispenser is on the left side indoor wall, and the filter turns into place at the back top right corner. In the last month or so, it suddenly takes like a full minute of holding the button down for the water to come out into the glass. When I tried replacing the filter, water exploded everywhere, which makes me think the problem is somehow with the spot where the filter turns into its lock position at the back of the fridge. Once the water makes its way into the glass it's a consistent flow, but it's taking longer and longer for the water to start coming out. I switched the filter twice and it keeps happening. Any ideas?
GE Profile Refrigerator: Fridge reads colder temp than actual.

This is a 2 yr old PWE23KYNGFS TwinChill refrigerator. The temp will show a colder temp than the actual temp for the fridge section. Temp is set to 34F, and the "actual" often reads 32F, but the real temp is 41F. Unplug for 30 sec and replug, the actual temp will now read correctly at 41F. Over the next hour or so, the "actual" temp reading works its way back down to 32 to 34F. No matter how often this is done, the coldest real temp I can attain is 38F. These numbers can vary a bit, but there's usually a 9 degree difference between "actual" and real temp.

The upper evap fan runs fine. The evap is not iced up (blocking air flow). So I suspect a thermistor possibly? Not sure where that would be located... And why does it read the correct temp when plugged back in to power, then slowly loses that grip on reality, and reads lower after a while? I suspect that this lower reading is preventing the fridge from cooling down to the proper temp.

Anyone have an idea what to try, and where it needs to be tried, I'd be most grateful. I rather dislike the shorter shelf-life on the easily perishable foods. Thank you much...
