There is no resistance like there is when it is functioning. Therefore, the door cannot be opened and the turntable continues to go around slowly (without the microwave heating mechanism running).

GE Microwave Oven: Fan stays on when door is open, door switches test good

We recently started having an issue with our 6 year old GE microwave (model # JNM1951SR1SS) where the fan stays on when the door is opened. It's an intermittent problem, but in the last day or so the fan stays on almost every time the door is opened (turntable doesn't turn).

I've been searching various forums, and it seems the part most likely to cause this problem is a faulty door switch. I've tested all three, and they all test good. Top and bottom are NC, and the middle switch is NO. All cycle appropriately when checking with a multimeter. I've removed the entire switch mount to check them, and I also checked them installed to make sure the door was making physically with the switch actuator.

We've also had rare issues with the reheat auto sensing function causing the microwave to go into error, but I'm not sure if it's related to the primary issue.

What else could cause the fan to turn on when the door is opened?

GE Microwave Oven: GE Profile Microwave is blowing through door switches

I have a Profile microwave that’s about 10 years old. A couple of years ago it stopped working, and the problem turned out to be the door switch. (Surprise!) I replaced the switch, and everything was fine for about 6 months. They it stopped working again. Door switch again. Fixed. Good for about 6 months. Dead switch again. What’s going on?

I see two likely causes. 1) I’m buying $5 switches off Amazon instead of the $40 OEM switches from Sears Parts Direct. 2) There’s an issue with the microwave that’s causing it to melt switches. And melted they are. The bottom lead is consistently melting the plastic that supports it, leaving it twisted at a 45 degree angle. And it’s always the same switch.

Occam’s Razor says it’s that the switches are cheap, but before I go spend $40 for a tiny, unispired bit of plastic and metal, I thought it was worth asking the question. Anyone have experience with cheap switches dying or microwaves killing their switches repeatedly?

GE Microwave Oven: GE Model JVM3670Sk06 has no power? Fuzes not blown?

Hi. I've read posts and watched youtube videos on possible solutions but i'm stumped. I have a GE microwave, model JVM3670SK06 that has no power. The outlet has power 120v (verified on multi meter). I ordered a new control board thinking that might be it but still no power. I checked the 2 fuses (HVT and normal) fuses that are simply cylinder fuses 250v20A. Each of them showed continuity. I checked the 4 thermal fuses in the microwave. All tested "OK" in that 3 of the fuses had continuity and 1 tested "open". I ordered a new replacement fuse but upon arrival, it was "open" as well, which made me realize it's normally an open fuse. I checked the door switches to ensure they were functioning properly, which they were. With door open, 2 switches showed open and 1 showed closed. with the door closed, each showed the opposite. I don't know what is the next step to check? There is no power to the microwave (no lights turn on, no buttons work, no display). Any suggestions?
