Furniture: How to fix the screws into the wood again?

Hi I fit it community,

I reached out here thanks to Bea Johnson, author of “zero waste home”. Unfortunately living by myself makes things harder to fix sometimes.

I bought a shoe rack from Ikea, but some shelves keep falling down. The screws don’t fit into the wholes inside the wood (I try my best to explain as clear as possible). After watching some tutorials, decided to fit some safety matches with glue, to help the screws attach. Left a whole day to dry.

Today, I tried to fix the shelves again, without succeed. Screws still not fitting there.

Have you ever had this kind of problem?

Mr. Christmas Musical Carousel: How do you remove the carousel bottom?

The pin came out of 1 of the horses at the bottom to make it go up and down and now it won't turn as the horse is in the down position. How do you remove the carousel bottom to put the pin back into the plastic shaft piece of the horse? Do I need to take off the top to get to the bottom or can I just remove the screws on the bottom to get to it? Don't want to try something that looks simple and find I need to take the whole thing apart to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

Mr. Christmas Musical Carousel: Why is the carousel not turning?

I have a Mr. Christmas Carousel, and it stopped turning. Now it just plays music. I tried to open it up, but the bottom wouldn't come off. I have a soldering iron and any other tool that would need. I took the screws out of the bottom and I tried prying it off, but that didn't do anything. If I can get the bottom off, I can fix the problem. I am guessing that it is a disconnected wire. Any ideas on getting the bottom off or an alternate method is greatly appreciated.

Office Chair: Office Chair Back Support Locking Not Working

I have an office chair - Featherlite Optima High Back Mesh Chair which I purchased around 5 years back. Recently, the back support lock was not functioning correctly, and 2 days ago, it completely stopped working.

It locks in one position and doesn't allow the backrest to go completely back, but it doesn't hold the backrest at a particular angle anymore.

I had faced this issue before once with this chair, within the first year and they had replaced the complete chair mechanism then, as the chair was under warranty.

What are my options here to fix this?

Really appreciate any help or suggestions with this. Thanks.

Christmas tree: Strand works plugged into wall but not plugged into other strands

I have an incandescent pre-lit tree with multiple plugs within the tree that daisy-chain together. When each strand is plugged in individually to the wall, everything works; but when I plug them together there is one strand in the middle of the tree that does not work. I’ve used the Light Keeper Pro tool to check the voltage in the strand and it seems to check out throughout the whole stand even when the lights aren’t working. It doesn’t seem like this is an issue with the male portion of the plug since it works fine when plugged in elsewhere. Maybe there’s something wrong with the female portion that it’s getting plugged into? The strand on the other end of that plug works fine. None of the trouble-shooting lists seem to cover this.

Thank you!
