FixHub Portable Power Station: FixHub Battery Error after updating firmware to 1.4.0

Recently unboxed a new ordered FixHub.

Outside the box, plugged into a USB-PD charger, the screen did not work.

Followed up with online tech documents, plugged in the device to my PC, and visited FixHub Console, which successfully detected the device. After being prompted to update to firmware 1.4.0, the screen finally turned on. The device shows a charging animation. After a while, to see if the battery would charge >0%, the device screen flashed "Battery Error, tool shutdown". When Attempted to plug into a USB-PD charger, a similar error popped up.

Replugged it into the PC, following the same instructions to update the firmware to 1.4.0 (again), and was notified of a successful update (again). However, the same Battery Error fault persisted.

I submitted a ticket to support under "other", but I'm unsure if that was the correct choice. I'm submitting a question here in case this is the correct method.

FixHub Portable Power Station: PowerStation bricked after firmware update

Hi,

I just purchased my FixHub Soldering Toolkit today and decided to upgrade to the latest firmware. It came with 1.0.3 and after upgrading to 1.0.7 it no longer detected the soldering iron. I decided to downgrade back to 1.0.3, but this errored during the 'resetting device' stage after it uploaded the firmware.

The display no longer shows anything at all and the device seems to not power on. I opened it and disconnected the battery for 10 minutes then reconnected it and tried to power it on with no luck.

I can put the device into DFU mode by holding down the silver knob while connecting a USB cable to the back port. It will load up in the web console, but it still shows 1.0.7 on the device and no downgrades succeed nor will the device power on.

Please help!

FixHub Portable Power Station: My brand new power station will not power up or charge.

I received the power station two weeks ago but due to holidays been unable to check it out until today.

I am unable to turn on the power station. It does not seem to do anything after pressing the action button. Also tried the 10 second hard reset but nothing happens.

After hours of charging nothing happens. There is supposed to be a battery icon displayed while charging but the screen remains black.

I tested with different -verified working- USB-C chargers and cables but nothing work.

Any suggestions?

FixHub Portable Power Station: Factory reset, CLI serial commands

Hi, does anyone know a command to return the FixHub to it's original shipped state?

Am thinking this would be via a terminal session, as the "knob" doesn't seem to show this option.

Also, is there any documentation on the CLI serial commands?

Some, like mcu-sn or toolinfo, are fairly straightforward, but am wondering if there's a comprehensive list of the other commands, similar to a man page.

FixHub Portable Power Station: FixHub battery - replace cells

I purchased this station when it first came out. it sat in a drawer for eight months. it was 90% charged or full when i did so. when pulling it out, it was dead. I was reading less than 2V from the cells.

Replacement battery packs were sold out here so i bought a DIY spot welder and six Molicel batteries. I replaced the cells and tabbed it the same way i saw it when i disassembled. I can read 4V from pos-to-neg on each cell. they all have the same chemistry (i drain/charge checked them).

I get 2.0V across the terminals/connector but I can't get the power station to come up.

I was able to hard reset the station and upload the latest firmware (1.4.3 at this time, i believe).

Is the BMS on the battery dead? is the pack not serviceable?

I would've just bought a replacement pack and called it a day but I'd like to try and salvage something from my attempt here.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

FixHub Portable Power Station: Can we get a little more information when using not-soldering-irons?

Hello,

I would like to request a feature be added to the power station firmware -- if something other than a soldering iron is connected, it would be great if we could get per-port voltage/current information. From a cursory look at the schematics, both of these metrics are sensed by the hardware, so it would be great if we could see them when a plain power sink is connected to the battery.

Great product! Thanks for reading.

FixHub Portable Power Station: Action (power) button not working; Power station works when plugged in

I have an issue with the power station that had worked previously (albeit not out of the box - it required the firmware fix to charge properly) and still works when plugged in to power:

the blue action/power button stopped working (doesn’t click, pressing it does not power on).

I’ve followed the instructions for disassembly up to removal of the front cover to diagnose the issue and the button on the UI board itself seems to be the most likely culprit (“mushy”, doesn’t click). Tried gently moving it and pulling on it with tweezers a bit thinking it might dislodge it somehow but to no avail.

The fixhub is basically new, I’ve got it as a gift as part of the soldering toolkit and used it twice, so paying for a replacement UI board for repair seems unjustified.

I’ve reported the issue to customer service but I wonder whether there is anything else I could try (perhaps some magic fix I’m missing being new to this) in the meantime, while waiting for a response. Thanks in advance.
