I have an Echo SRM 225 Trimmer. Full disclosure I left the fuel in it all winter. When I started the season it would start then quit, but re-start at a later point. At some point it just stopped starting. I took the following steps:

*Emptied the gas tank and put clean fuel in

*Cleaned the Carb with Carb Cleaning Fluid

*Replaced the air filter and spark plug

*Replaced the fuel line system

*Finally replaced the carb

It still won't start. Any idea of what else could be wrong?

Before flooding condition. Engine would only idle when giving gas would stall. Removed carb and cleaned reinstalled carb now engine runs will Rev up but keeps flooding out, getting to much fuel now. Would like to see a diagram of carb. Apart

Echo SRM-225 Trimmer: Why does the head spin off when I push the trigger

Everything running perfectly, but now after I fed the lines in as described for replacement, I push the trigger, the head spins and then falls off into 2 pieces. The metal cap (see below that this may be an adapter) that the head screws up to and the head itself.

I screw the head back on ok after I put the cap up first, but it keeps happening.

No idea. Machine has less than 2 hours run time since last 2 years when I bought it.

This area is on the page R diagram. Only thing I can think of is Part 13, the plate adapter on diagram Page K is what is falling off, maybe it is broken due to pounding to get string to run our new length.

This unit had been very unresponsive to touching the head to get new line to fish out.

How can you ck if it has vacuum? I put a new carb on it and the fuel bulb is full but no fuel in cylinder. Has 110 compression.

Echo SRM-225 Trimmer: It will only run at half throttle

I bought a new carb and tune-up kit and replaced the old ones. I pulled the gas tank to check for any leaks. I replaced the gas cap. It starts right up and revs up to speed only to half throttle, anything past half throttle it bogs down dies. After I let it run for a bit and shut it down the hose that has the breather end leaks gas all over the place. Any ideas.

I have changed out on echo srm 225 weed eater spark plug, fuel, air filter, fuel filter it will start with full choke but soon you start to turn choke down will stall out and also will not idle up when giving it throttle up speed does not change

Echo SRM-225 Trimmer: Will not start after running?

So, really weird problem… I have had this Echo for 15 years and it has been great. I have ran it to death. I have always been able to fix it but this problem has stumped me. The thing will run perfect. It starts on first pull. Then it will shut off after 30 min and it will not start again until it is completely cooled down. I am talking completely cooled down. I will need to wait up to 20-30min to start it again. Things I have down:

new carb
new hoses
new air filter
new spark plug
new gas
added more oil than normal

Echo SRM-225 Trimmer: Echo 225 Trimmer won't start. Tried all the basics

Purchased a used Echo SRM 225 that won’t start for nothing. This is what I have done so far.

Put in a new carb, new air filter, new fuel line and filter and a new spark plug. Also new gasoline 50:1 mix

Checked the ignition coil and the new spark plug for spark. Also checked it with the ground disconnected.

Disconnected the off/on switch to make sure it’s not that.

I have not checked the compression but have a new piston ring and cylinder gasket that I have not gotten around to changing out. I do smell gas from cylinder when trying to start but have not checked the inside of the cylinder for scarring. I did check the piston by removing the muffler and the piston appears to look fine with no scarring.

I will also be cleaning the spark arrestor when putting on the new piston ring.

I’ve worked on quite a few different trimmers with success but this one has got me stumped. I’m running out of options and do not want to put any more money into this.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

My Echo SRM-225 trimmer hasn't been used in a year. When I press the fuel bulb, it won't fill up with fuel and therefore, the engine won't kick over. Any ideas?

the string line is not cutting off. When i push the head down, more string is let out, but the excess line is tangling around the feedhead, and not cutting off when the line comes across the blade

Trimmer stopped suddenly while using. First time this has happened. I replaced the carburetor, all filters, spark plug, and the spark plug arrested screen. Still does not start???
