DualShock 4 CHU-ZCT2U: What is causing my controller to act like this?

So for different controller I installed normal sticks and it won't charge or connect to my PC. I noticed on the four prongs on the analog stick that is R3( works in-game and camera spinning) were really short. I still can connect to my ps4 via wireless. I was able to press X to enter the game from the ps4 menu, but in the main menu when I pressed X it wouldn't register. So I removed a solder from that analog stick and then I was able to enter the game from its main menu still not charging nor I can connect to PC I was able to connect prior to replacing sticks.

DualShock 4 CHU-ZCT2U Generation 4: Touchpad “drift” top left

I got a problem with another controller, i deassembled it for cleaning the joysticks and suddenly got this touchpad problem, it detects a touch when i’m not touching it, tried cleaning the touchpad and disconnecting and reconnecting it but i realized it has this touchpad problem even when the touchpad isn’t connected, tried also resetting the controller but didn’t work. If this helps, the touch is in the top left corner, i really need to fix it because i can’t write and can’t play games like Hogwarts Legacy, or Marvel’s Spiderman Miles Morales, could someone tell me what to do? 😭

DualShock 4 CHU-ZCT2U: L2 Trigger influences Right joystick

I've been trying to repair a Dualshock 4 controller (JDM-055) that had the following issue:

Pressing the L2 trigger induced an input on the right joystick's Y axis. So pressing L2 made the camera go up.

What I've attempted: Opening up the controller, cleaning it, and making sure all the contacts were clean and aligned. Once that was done, I test it again on gpadtester and it was still displaying the same fault. So I thought maybe the joystick was faulty and leaking current somehow and de-soldered it. It's still behaving the same even without any joystick there, it just pegs the value further up. Is this a known issue? Is the main PCB toast? I can't think of anything else other than a drifted resistor somewhere or a PCB crack, which probably wouldn't be worth repairing. Any tips appreciated!

Image of what gpadtester looks like when pressing L2 with no joystick installed. When released, the input hovers near the edge of the circle. When pressing, it goes up.

Update (04/26/26)

Hi again, I've changed the circuit membrane, and now the two triggers are stuck on 1 no matter whether I press them or not. I've checked and both the membrane and the gaskets are seated properly. All other buttons are working. The right joystick is still empty. Any idea what the issue could be? Thanks!

I opened it, because i though it was the battery, and replaced it and didn’t work, then i unassembled it completely, and it even has the black thing that appears when something burns, and all the plastics around, like the one holding the battery is melted in the closer parts, and also the case plastic

DualShock 4 CHU-ZCT2U: R2 Trigger not responding at all

Hey guys! So I've had my DS4 for about 6 years now. I didn't use it for a while (about 2 years), and when I plugged it in the other day (I use it on PC, my PS4 doesn't work) the R2 trigger wasn't responding at all. It's not a flicker or a "I have to press real hard" thing: it's completely dead.

I opened the controller to check for any obvious signs (broken plastic, something missing, something burnt), but honestly couldn't find anything. I even took it off and tried pressing the sensor myself and nothing (I did the same with the L2 trigger to compare, and it responded perfectly). I used DS4Windows to test the buttons' response.

So that's the extent of my "knowledge", I don't know electronics enough to really know what's wrong other than what I did. Is there anything else I should be checking? Like something in the motherboard, or maybe a cable/flex I don't know about? I didn't take the battery off to expose the motherboard because I wouldn't know what to look for before asking.

I don't have the money to buy a new one right now (plus the rest of the controller works perfectly), and would like to avoid sending it to a "technician" to be charged a lot for something I could fix myself.

Thanks in advance for reading and any help you can provide!

DualShock 4 CHU-ZCT2U Generation 4: extremeRate modded PS4 controller, Square unreliable

Hi all, I grew tired of replacing the rubber under the dpad on my PS4 controller and decided to try modify the controller to use the extremeRate clicky button kit. Which worked well, until the other night when square stopped working reliably.

I know the problem is the contacts between the extreme rate and the top side of the main board. Tightening the silver 00 6mm Phillips screw that holds the contacts together fixes it, but after an hour of street fighter it was back to missing square inputs.

What i think has happen is the threaded hole on the underside of the controller face panel has been damaged and is becoming loose. I might be able to harvest the face panel / screw from an old controller, although I'm not sure this a viable solution.

An alternative solution might be to get something to push against the bottom side of the main board... Or even the battery? This in theory would maintain the contacts. But I haven't a clue how I'd do this.
