DualShock 3: Why doesnt my ds3 charge batteries?

My OEM controller doesn't charge, no matter how long you leave it charging when you remove the cable it tells you to put it back and will turn off after few mins. So I did the obvious and swapped the battery but same story its always empty. After that I put the old battery in my fake controller and it works and charge that means the battery is good, so i charged it and put it back on my original contoller and that worked, but I don't want to keep removing the battery to keep playing (my fake controller have some input issues thats why i don't use it). I don't know how but twice the controller managed to charge the battery i put it for some time and it was 2 bars and today it went to one bar after i removed the cable but it stops there . the problem here is that when its plugged with the ps3 it shows that its charging in the battery pic but i don't know why the battery is empty. So I tried 3 different cables, charging it on pc, ps3 and on my tv nothing works. Anyone got a solution?

DualShock 3: Dissemble sixaxais controller fully

I have an old sixaxis ps3 controller that has sticky rubber thumbsticks. Apparently these controllers have a clamp that is right below the thumbsticks. This controller has never been taken apart before.

I have removed the 5 screws in the back, but I can't get the clamp undone at all. Is there a special tool or technique that I could use?

The clamp is really hard to undue.

DualShock 3: R2 only outputting 0.16 pressure

As far as I know, R2 and L2 output values from 0 to 1.

I noticed that playing racing games i could not push throttle to the max.

So I checked in https://gamepad-tester.com/ and at max pressure it is only outputting 0.16 at most.

I tried dissassembling the gamepad and everything seems fine inside. I even tried pushing the circuit itselft with my finger and I got the same result.

Does anybody know why this is happening?

DualShock 3: Dualshock 3 Won't Charge after replacing battery

One of my Dualshock 3 controllers wouldn't charge no matter what it was plugged into or how long it was plugged in.

I replaced the battery on it, and now when I plug it in, all 4 player lights flash once, then nothing.

If I plug it into my PS3 and hit the home button, it will connect and work fine but it won't be charging. Tried holding the reset button but no luck. Since the new battery has a charge, If I unplug the controller from my PS3, it connects and everything is fine, so I know the battery is able to supply power.

I know it's not the battery, I know it's not the cable, I know it's not the USB port, I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

DualShock 3: Square button still sticky even after cleaning

Hi so my ds3 controller has a issue with the square button. when i press on it, it feels likes there’s resistance? there’s also a crinkly sound too. it also does not spring back up like the other buttons.

Since I have no experience or confidence in taking things apart I decided to try putting a little bit of isopropyl alcohol on a soft bristle tooth brush and rub around the area. I made sure the bristles got down the sides of the button.

I had my doubts since this was an old dusty controller that barely was used, since my dad only bought the ps3 to play dvds. After the through cleaning the button worked again! Pressing and springing back up like the other buttons. however only a day after, it went back to the weird sticky condition.

it’s weird because the button works but you have to press harder and it won’t spring back up and that crinkly noise is bugging me. I can confirm that it has never been spilt on just was very dusty before I cleaned it.

I’m hoping I don’t have to take it apart since I have no experience and I’m worried I would break it. Any help is much appreciated thank you

DualShock 3: Is there a fix for an improper joystick input signal (and console...

The question would end in “(and console powering down)?”. There is a crippling problem with the DUALSHOCK 3. Even when I am not pressing anything, the controller seems to send a signal that the right-hand analog stick keeps being moved down. This does not stop and makes it impossible to play some games or select some settings. Is there a fix? (Note: Before I can get to this, I will need a fix for the PS3 shutting itself off as if someone pulled the plug out after 3 seconds on, turning red upon pressing the power button again after a few seconds. It does not work for about 1-5 seconds. Upon pressing the button again, the light turns green, then the pattern repeats after 3 seconds. Changing the angle can keep it on for about 20 more seconds on occasion, however.)

DualShock 3: Dualshock 3 won't stay on or charge - disconnecting/reconnecting

I'm not certain this is the best place to post this but I've been scouring the internet for hours trying to solve this.

I've used a genuine DS3 that came with my PS3 (new) with my PC for years and had no problems, but after letting it sit for a couple of weeks it will not stay connected via USB. This also means it won't charge.

If I plug it in, the usual charging flashes will happen for about 10 seconds and then it will disconnect/reconnect constantly every couple of seconds or so. The battery does not charge when this is happening.

I have tried:

Different cables

Different USB slots

Using a different genuine DS3 battery that I know for sure works

Plugging the controller in with no battery

Taking the whole controller apart and cleaning everything

Using the physical reset button on the controller in every conceivable manner

My other DS3 (same age) works perfectly fine with my computer and connects/charges/functions as it ought to.

I've narrowed it down to hardware, more specifically some component on the motherboard of the DS3 itself.

Has anyone else had this issue and managed to fix it? Can anyone think of somewhere more appropriate I can post this issue?

EDIT: I’ve just noticed that during the brief periods in which the controller is on, the MB gets hot and smells like burning plastic. I figure this must be related; is there anything I can do at this point?
