Does anyone else have a trigger that if not pulled straight back catches?

Ive noticed specifically on mine that is there is pressure to the left it wont move back.

Impact was “dead”. I disassembled to trouble shoot. Power leads coming in read zero volts with good battery connected. Once motor was removed from housing I connected battery and motor switches on without trigger, twitching forward and reverse but smoke comes from motor and metal housing got hot immediately. I’m assuming a short somewhere. Any help would be great appreciated.

What is jammed on my impact. It’s still powered but it’s not turning and the vibration is 10 times stronger.

My brother has this impact and when he pulls the trigger it works fine, it’s when he lets off the trigger when it comes to a slow stop rather than a quick stop, is this a trigger issue? I don’t have that impact to compare it to.
