Korg B1: Korg B1 - specific notes don't work, problem with circuitry

Aloha all, I just purchased a Korg B1 digital piano with known issues. The keyboard sounds great but has specific notes that don’t work. Starting from the E after middle C, all Es, Cs and G#s don’t work.

Luckily, I found another ifixit post, the only place on the internet it seems, where someone understood why specific notes wouldn’t be working. Here is the link: ++"E" key and 3rd black key is not working.

I understand very little about circuit boards, but I was able to identify the problem immediately. C, E and G# receive and give inputs along the same path. There is an issue with the soldering on one of the *things* at the first E key, where the problem starts. See the images for this issue.

So, one of my problems is that I don’t know anything about circuits or circuitry terminology, so I can’t even describe this issue, much less start to fix it.

Can anyone help me at least put a name to this, so I can start to go about fixing it? It seems like a basic circuitry issue that wouldn’t be hard to fix, but I don’t know where to start. Any help is appreciated.

Korg B2: 4 piano keys not working (seems electronic problem)

Since a few days ago, four piano keys on my 2'5-year-old Korg B2 piano have been not working at all.

I disassembled the piano, cleaned it, and tried to replace the rubber/carbon pads of the problematic keys with other ones from another octave, but nothing changed. It seems somehow to be a problem in the circuits.

The non-working four keys are located adjacent to each other and look like they are in the same group:

I would like to highlight that I'm completely ignorant in this area of knowledge. I did check other posts with similar problems, but I don't know where to start checking in this labyrinth of circuits.

Any ideas, guys? I would much appreciate some expert eye in here and proper guidance on what to do next.

Thanks in advance! :)

Korg B1: 3 dead keys throughout keyboard

I’ve had my keyboard for about 4 years now with no issues. Until that is, one day I went to turn it on and I noticed 3 keys (D, F#, and A#) were dead. The keys in the lower octaves are fine, but around the middle range is where the dead keys start. (Not sure of exact terminology lol). I opened up my keyboard to look at the circuit board and noticed some corrosion. I cleaned some off but no luck. I’ve attached an image. Those 3 keys stop working to the right of that spot, all down the board. I don’t know if this is what is causing it or if this is fixable.

yamaha clavinova clp-880: Glitchy keys on digital piano - Yamaha Clavinova CLP-880

Hello. I have a Yamaha Clavinova which is exhibiting some glitchy behavior. At first, random notes would sustain forever (though the key would physically lift back up), or sound at max volume, or make other notes sound. I took it apart and cleaned everything as best as I could to no avail.

I've now been able to identify certain consistent issues. For example, if I hold an F, and press the adjacent G, the piano will also sound a B and Db. The important part is that this happens in all octaves. I am thus led to believe that it is not a hardware/mechanical issue and that the problem is in the motherboard.

Is there anything that can be done, or is it fried? Would I at least be able to keep the key contact circuit board and use it for a separate MIDI project?

Thanks!

Yamaha DGX-640: Piano Keys very low volume

I tried to use my old DGX 640, but it had a first issue with no sound output at all. Referencing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLPNpbFG... , I had the similar faulty capacitor C207. After replacing it, my piano how has normal volume audio output for all pre-sets, metronome, etc. However, any sound generated from the keys themselves are extremely soft. The volume of the keys when set to 100% output is as loud as the metronome at 10% volume. I'm not too sure what else I should try to check next to rectify the low volume from the keyboard itself.

GEM Digital Piano: Why no bluetooth speaker piano output?

Although many newer keyboards feature bluetooth connectivity, that feature seems solely included to allow them to interface with an ipad. A feature I would find much more valuable would be the ability to transmit sound output to remote bluetooth speakers. Why is this feature never provided?

GEM Digital Piano: Disposition of keyboard contacts

I’m trying to diagnose a problem with a Gem digital piano, by email, on account of the Accursed Pestilence currently stalking the world.

Like all touch-sensitive keyboards, there are 2 contacts under each key, the speed of travel from one to the other determining the loudness of the note. So with 2 switches (or a 3-position switch) and 2 diodes I shoud be able to make a gadget to simulate one key, to give to the owner in order to test the keyboard scanning logic.

But it’s not clear from the schematic whether both contacts are normally open and both close one after the other as a key is depressed, or, as might be implied by the signal names on the schematic, the first is normally closed and opens, and the second, normally open, closes a fraction of a second later. Or something else.

This may vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but the keyboard itself seems to be a generic Denon part so it could be that there’s a standard way all touch sensitive keyboards work.

Can anyone enlighten me with actual knowledge or exterience?
