Delonghi Desk Fan VLT 1000: Need help wiring capacitor in 2-speed pedestal fan

This is not a desk fan - but no other suitable choices available. I purchased an old pedestal fan that was missing a speed control switch. This must be a 2-speed fan as there are only 4 wires from motor (white, red, yellow and blue). I know that Red is hot, white is common, blue is low and yellow is high. I found a 2-speed pull switch and have 2-wire capacitor. I have the wires and switch connections sorted our - but am unsure where to connect the 2 capacitor wires. I can get the 2 speeds to work - but don't think I've found the right combo for capacitor.

Q: Capacitor; is it 1 wire to hot (white) and 1 to high speed (yellow)?

Delonghi Desk Fan VLT 1000: Delonghi Desk Fan - tear down assistance

I have one of these that is about ten years old and there has been a build up of friction from dust or perhaps a lack of lube. Was breaking this down for a clean and lube / oil but cant seem to figure out how to remove the swing control knob. It is the last piece to the puzzle for removing the motor and bearing housing. I have tried to unscrew it both anti-clockwise and clockwise (which only seems to unlock / lock it to the swing motor shaft. as you would expect), but it seems to be held in by something else. There are no screws or bolts visible and I have had a feel around for a circlip but doesn't seem to be one (and no room for one really). Has anyone got experience with these fans and have an idea how to remove? thanks
