Dell XPS 9720: Laptop freeze after startup XPS 9730

My new XPS 17 freezes after startup. I downloaded Ubuntu, VirtualBox, and Kali Linux, and now the laptop won't work. It began lagging right after unboxing, and currently, it won't open any applications—it just freezes. I reached out to Dell for a replacement, concerned about facing the same issue with the XPS, given the lack of positive reviews online, except on the Dell website. I conducted a diagnostics test, and there were no errors.

Dell XPS 9720: Cursor skips randomly up and down the left side of screen

The cursor skips randomly up and down in a line an inch or so from the left edge of screen. It is an intermittent problem but makes the laptop unusable and will open files, folders and applications and can result in undesirable consequences. Virus scans have turned up nothing.

Is this a known problem? Is it in fact a touchpad issue or something else? Is it a hardware or software issue and is there a fix?
