Dell XPS 17 9710: How long can I store a new lithium battery before installing it?

I'm in the process of buying a new battery for my Dell laptop and I need to do it while I'm in the US, because I can't find reputable brand ones in Europe, namely iFixit, but also the oem from Dell. However, I don't want to install it right away, because I can probably still go one year or so with the one I have in the laptop right now. How long can I store a new battery before installing it?

Dell XPS 17 9700: XPS 17 9700 mobo dead. Possible to install a XPS 17 9710 MOBO?

My GPU died on my XPS 17 9700, and seeing I only use the laptop for editing and gaming, it serves no purpose to me anymore. My original idea is just to grab a new 9700 mobo with same CPU/GPU config, but I've come across a XPS 17 9710 MOBO with 11th gen CPU and a RTX 3060 so that got me thinking - are they interchangeable?

All important stuff related to PC are on the MOBO itself, the only thing(s) you connect are battery, keyboard, LCD screen and touchpad - if the dimensions are same (it fits inside the case), should it work?

Dell XPS 17 9700: Can I replace or reseat the RAM?

Hi,

My Dell XPS 9700 has been persistently buggy for a long time. Fan runs constantly, occasional unexplained freeze-ups. I was doing something unrelated to the problems when I discovered that Windows believes I only have 8 gigs of RAM on this thing. I checked software & boot issues and nothing turned up. Seems like the remaining option is to replace/reseat the RAM. How difficult would it be to crack this thing open and do that myself. I've replaced batteries in phones, but that's about all the iFixit I have ever done.

thanks,

Dell XPS 9720: Laptop freeze after startup XPS 9730

My new XPS 17 freezes after startup. I downloaded Ubuntu, VirtualBox, and Kali Linux, and now the laptop won't work. It began lagging right after unboxing, and currently, it won't open any applications—it just freezes. I reached out to Dell for a replacement, concerned about facing the same issue with the XPS, given the lack of positive reviews online, except on the Dell website. I conducted a diagnostics test, and there were no errors.

Dell XPS 17 9710: Screen gets distorted the moment GPU driver is installed

I've just gotten a new 9710 motherboard yesterday and every single time I install Intel GPU drivers I get this:

https://i.imgur.com/jd6KIwR.png

Tried ctrl alt shift b or whatever people said to reset GPU driver, tried different versions of drivers and tried reinstalling windows, all the same. The screen looks perfectly fine right up until the moment where Intel graphics driver gets installed and then this happens. When connecting to an external screen it looks and works fine both when duplicating the display and extending it.

I don't know, think I need to return the motherboard unless this is somehow an easy fix?

Dell XPS 17 9700: Display coming away from back of screen assembly, still functional.

As per the title, the double sided tape holding the display to the rest of the screen assembly appears to have failed. The screen still functions as well as the webcam, so it doesn't seem like any connecting cables have been damaged yet. Photos are attached below.

I'm wondering if it would be possible to re-adhere the screen to the assembly with 8mm tesa tape (or some other kind of adhesive). I would prefer to salvage the display assembly if I can, the cost of a new assembly is a bit prohibitive at the moment.

Dell XPS 17 9700: Sticky spacebar key following softdrink splash

I spilled a couple drops of Monster energy drink on my laptop right around the base of the space key. It was fine at first, but a few days after, I noticed the keyboard was very unresponsive in popping back into place any other key. It’s like it is slowing to pop back up and never really comes back up to normal position fully. Any thoughts on the easiest/cheapest way to remedy this? I tried taking damp printer paper and sliding it underneath the key and that actually seemed to help that day. A few days later and it’s back to the same unresponsiveness. Any helpful thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Dell XPS 17 L702X: Keyboard works after spill, but types different?

Okay so a few months ago I was folding laundry when I heard a huge thud from my room, I come to check it out and my poor cat knocked a tin of turpentine off my shelf and onto my desk, it splattered everywhere and fortunately that wasn't the cause of the issue, it was me cleaning the laptop and accidentally sprayed directly on the keyboard and all that jazz, noticed that the foam seeped in.

Immediately I turned it off and flipped it over, and let the poor thing drain for a week and a half before i thought about turning it on, but for some reason, the keyboard works... but it does this:

When I press the W key:

W2w2W2w2W2w2W2w2W2wW2w2W2w2W2w2

When I press the caps lock key:

2w2W2w2W2w2W2w2W2w2W2w2

Here is me pressing each key from left to right:

q1W2TR4TR4YU7YU7]I8O9ASDFGHJKL;'

ZXCVBNM./

'''

Here is when I press 1-10:'''

q1W2TR456YU7]I8O9

Sometimes when I press a key it uses another key, like if I press 7 it thinks I'm pressing F7, or if I press 2 it thinks I'm using the command ctrl+F

Basically, I want to know if this can be fixed or I need to consider a replacement keyboard. This has gone on for a couple months now, but I hate having to use an external USB keyboard :/

Dell XPS 17 L702X: Laptop doesn't start after pressing the power button

Hi All,

We have bought our second hand Dell XPS 17" L702X. When we bought it, we know there is a problem to start. The problem was you have to press the power button many times in order to start the laptop. Basically, we had to press the power button 20 times or so in order to start the laptop. Once the laptop is started, that's fine to use.

Now, this laptop simply doesn't start after pressing the power button 300 times or so.

Every time we press the power button, we hear one clicking sound which sounds like from the hard-drive. That's it and it never starts up.

What is the best option should I look into?

Thank you.
