Dell XPS 15 7590: Does anyone know if there is a fuse for the display?

Customer has this xps 15 7590 with a frayed display cable with broken wires. Was turning on / off when adjusting screen angle or opening & closing. Then stopped working altogether. Nothing but black screen. Laptop is still booting and I can blindly login. Got the factory replacement and it won't display either! I'm hoping the motherboard isn't completely gone and there's a protection fuse in line somewhere...

Someone please save me!

Dell XPS 15 7590: Will not run on battery power. Only when plugged in.

I have a bit of an odd issue...

Issue:

This laptop will only run when plugged into the wall. When power is removed, it immediately shuts off and will not power back on until plugged back into a wall outlet. When plugged in and powered on, the battery is detected and there is no indication of an issue. I can even run the built-in diagnostics and it returns a clean result, zero issues...

Additionally, when left unplugged for a few minutes or more, then plugged in and powered on, it boots as if all power has been removed, including the BIOS battery. I.e. very slow POST and the BIOS needs to be reconfigured.

What Started the Issue:

I purchased a refurbished Dell dock for a customer. To test the dock before delivering, I plugged it into this laptop. When I plugged it in, the laptop flickered a few times and then went dead and would not power on. So I started troubleshooting...

Removed the dock cable from the laptop and hit the power button. Nothing.

Connected my Dell wall charger and hit the power button.

The laptop powered up as if previously fully depowered (slow POST and BIOS reconfig required).

Once powered up and logged in, i checked the battery status.

Batter showed present, partially charged, and charging.

No errors or indication of an issue.

The wall charger was then removed to check if the laptop would run on battery power.

It immediately powered off and would not power on again.

The wall charger was reconnected and the laptop powered up.

Power was connected until the battery showed 100%.

Battery power was then retested with the same result.

A full run of the internal, pre-boot diagnostics did not show any errors or issue.

Any thoughts, ideas, or additional troubleshooting steps to attempt?

Thank you for any help you may be able to provide...

Dell XPS 15 7590: No boot, coil whines, hot chips

So my dell XPS, nothing (literally no fans, nothing on the screen) happens when trying to turn it on with or without the battery. When I removed the battery and plug in the charger I hear whining initially high pitch then it switched to a lower pitch. The igpu chip also gets really hot alongside a coil block and a MOSFET(I think). But none of this happens with a battery connected. I visually checked for burnt capacitors or something that can cause something like a short, but to no avail. Help would be appreciated

Dell XPS 15 7590: Bottom of laptop screen has vertical lines?

My laptop started to have these lines on the bottom of the screen. It’s mostly vertical lines that can still show the toolbar sometimes, but it “remembers changes? Like if I leave the cursor there for a while, sometimes the image of the cursor stays even if I moved it already. Sometimes it gets super blurry, but right now, I can still see the toolbar.

It also kind of “reflects” what’s happening above it?

Sorry for the dirty screen. I’ve been using it with an external monitor connected and it works fine, except for like…episodes of flashing?

As I was typing this, it got “blurrier” again.

I also tried what someone posted earlier about pressing on the sides of the screen, and nothing changed.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what’s wrong with my laptop and if this means I need to get the screen completely replaced or if it’s only a connection that has to be fixed or something?

Thank you so much!
