Dell XPS 15 9550: Windows 10 says password is incorrect when it wakes up from Sleep

This morning, I turned on my laptop and entered my password to sign in to Windows 10. Everything was normal as usual. In the noon, I put the laptop to sleep and then I left. After an hour, I resumed it, but Windows 10 said my password is incorrect. I checked my password several times and I’m quite certain it is correct, but the Windows 10 keeps saying the password is incorrect. I tried to restart Windows 10, but it still did not work. Why is this? How can I sign back to my Windows 10 now?

Dell XPS 15 9550: Why is Dell XPS battery not charging?

I have a Dell XPS 15 and gotten an alert before starting the laptop that reads "Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not be charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available. Note: This warning can be disabled in BIOS setup."

Since this appear the battery won't charge but laptop will be on if the charger is plugged in. It's not the battery nor charger the problem because it's still fairly new laptop. I did used a 90w charger which probably cause the problem because the laptop uses a 130w charger. However I have both and its still given me issue. Any suggestions to fix problem?

Dell XPS 15 9550: Display hinge broke from base

Hi,

My laptop hit the floor and the post that the laptop base hex screw attaches to snapped off. Not a problem, however the laptop keeps separating every time I close the lid and I have to push the top and bottom together to put the laptop to sleep. It’s now causing more internal damage and when I open it up, the clip has snapped off the laptop base as well as the screw hole to the base is also cracked in half. I’ve attached pics but wanted to know the hinge was attached to that I need to replace, as well as the hinge itself. This is on the same side as the power button. Any info would be very much appreciated. And not sure if the pictures uploaded or not but have those too.

Thanks!

Dell XPS 15 9570: Laptop not turning back on unless plugged in

I recently replaced the battery in my 9570, using the kit and battery from IFIXIT, along with a new RAM kit from Crucial. Since the replacement, when the laptop goes into hibernation mode, after being left alone, it won’t turn back on unless plugged in. The LED battery indicator light won’t even turn on when this happens. Sometimes the Dell screen will flash, then turn back off.

Once its back on, it can be unplugged and it behaves normally.

Dell XPS 15-L502X: How do I open this stripped screw in my laptop?

https://i.imgur.com/a3pF7a4.jpg

So, the screw the guy in the picture is unscrewing is in a hole and releases the CD tray. Now, that is stripped in my laptop. The laptop is 5 years old and has serious overheating problems. I think it needs to be cleaned and the heat sink paste needs to be changed but I can't get to the inside without opening this screw. I have tried sticking aflat screw keywith 2-3 kinds of adhesive like superglue and leave it for 10-12 hours. It sticks firmly, but as soon as I try to turn it, it comes off. I also took the laptop to 7-8 repair shops but all of them were unable to do it. Can it be removed?

Edit 25/9/24 - Thanks to the tireless work of shingle we have solved the issue. With a quick AC jack replacement and an installation my Laptop is now working!

just for ease of use I used this guide for disassembly : Dell XPS 15 9560 Fans Replacement

Though here are a few pitfalls I found!

- This should be what your hinge looks like Immediately after you open the laptop, you then need to undo three different screws, but first unplug the power connector, it has a bunch of red and black wires. Sorta like this:

- see bottom left,

Then you untape the ( very fragile, so be careful) screen connector and the AC jack ( Actually called a DC connector for some reason).

Then you need to unscrew the two screws on top of the hinge, and VERY VERY gently push the hinge upwards.

There you will find a third screw, unscrew this one but Put it somewhere safe as it is actually different than the two other screws you have just removed

Once you have done that gently slot the new part into the hole into the little cut out for it and using the screw you have just put aside for safety, screw the new part into the cutout, you shouldn't really have to worry about orientation as it actually only fits in the correct configuration.

Now move the screen cable and the new power connector away from the hinge to close the hinge, it should look like the picture before you removed the screws, then gently replace the tape.

Then pick up the new connector for the AC jack ( It should look like the picture below) and plug it into the slot with the dot/divet facing upwards.

gently push in with very very minor wiggling if needed. and then put the screws for the hinges in once everything looks seated correctly.

Then re assemble the laptop as the guide but read backwards and cograts you should have a working laptop! Whoo hoo!

Dell XPS 15 9550: Why my fans are running all the time?

My Dell XPS 15 has this problem: fans are always running, making lots of noise, even when computer is idle, or having just 3-4% jf CPU load. (earlier when I just bought it it was very quite, fans started up only under high usage).

Can it be that after a year of usage my cooling system is full of dust? Should I clean it?

Unfortunately there is no instruction on iFixit.

Dell XPS 15 9500: Replacing Qualcomm AX500 Killer Wifi

This Qualcomm AX500 Wifi does not work for me using Linux and I wanted to replace it with a Intel Wireless-AC 9260 (M.2 (PCIe)). However on the top left corner there is the card reader (green) where the Wifi module used to be.

Any change replacing the Wifi (red)? Is is soldered to the board or still an M.2 PCI card?
