Dell XPS 13: Trackpad Randomly Stops Working

I have a Dell XPS 15 that is roughly 3 years old. The trackpad has recently entered periods where it will not work for several days. I have reinstalled the mouse drivers, and this did not fix anything. An external mouse works just fine. The computer has also been waking up from sleep mode which makes me wonder if the mouse is somehow sending signals even when it is not being activated. Since this issue has come and gone a couple of times in the past few weeks, I'm trying to decide whether this is a hardware or a software issue. Should I just replace the trackpad altogehter? Or is there a potential fix I can try first? Thank you so much!

Dell XPS 13: Battery status idle, not charging after calibration

Hi, I bought an Ifixit battery replacement for dell xps 13, replacement went well, first test successful, battery was charging with 130Wh AC adapter.

After recommended battery calibration, full charge and complete discharge by the computer, the battery is not charging anymore.

bios tells battery charging status: idle, health status: excellent, no power is transferred to the battery

I am left with 2% battery life in the new one.

Switching ac adaptor does not help.

I put in the old battery again, which is charging with the mentioned 130Wh adaptor, but doesn’t hold capacity….

Is there a known solution for this situation?

Dell XPS 13: M2 Screws for battery replacement

Hi - I want to replace the battery in my Dell XPS13 and need the three M2 x 2 screws to hold the battery in (managed to lose them). I can get M2 x 2.5 but can't find anyone who stocks M2 x 2. Can anyone suggest a source OR can let me know if I can get away with M2 x 2.5 - I suspect they may be too proud. Thanks

Dell XPS 13: iFixIt battery is charging slowly, laptop doesn't turn on unplugged

I recently bought a replacement battery for my 9350 after I noticed the original was bulging. After installation, I noticed that after a whole day of charging, the battery still hadn’t hit full capacity. Furthermore, the laptop is unable to power on without the AC adapter, and the moment it is removed, the laptop turns off.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I’ve tried uninstalling the battery driver, doing power troubleshoot, updating BIOS, etc.

I have a hunch that this is because the voltage in the replacement battery is 7.2 V while it’s 7.6 V in the original.

To make sure I didn’t break anything, I reconnected the old battery and turned it on without the AC adapter and everything was working fine.

Dell XPS 13: Looking for experiences of swollen battery replacement, fire

My Dell battery is swollen, but not hot. I’ve searched and found the “What to do with a swollen battery.” I’ve run the battery down and it’s not connected to power. I have it on a nonflammable surface and would like to try to remove and replace it myself (especially given the present world situation). I’m looking for advice, especially from people who’ve had experience, with unscrewing the T5 screws, the un/likelihood of fire if I don’t puncture, etc. I’m studying up on safety, etc. but just am looking for helpful tips, do’s/don’t’s.
Dell XPS 13: Replacement battery not detected

I ordered an installed an iFixit replacement battery and it keeps saying “not detected”. The old battery still works, just doesn’t hold a charge long. I have confirmed I am installing it correctly because I put the old battery back in and it shows up as normal. But after putting the new battery in, no matter what I try, it keeps showing “not detected” in both Windows and BIOS settings. I have tried removing the CMOS battery for 30 seconds while also removing the battery and holding the power button, reattaching both and booting up to set the Date/Time again and each time the BIOS settings still show no battery detected. I can repeat the process with the old battery and it starts working again. Did I get a bad battery? Is there something else going on?

Dell XPS 13: Dell XPS 13 not turning on, black screen, LEDs blinking

Hello,

My Dell XPS 13 2016 (I think it's 9350, but it doesn't actually say that anywhere under the little hatch) shut itself down recently and would not turn back on. I opened it up, and noticed that the battery was very swollen. I tried powering it on with the battery unplugged, but it would not boot. I also tried replacing the battery with a replacement from ifixit, but it still would not boot. It is showing a black screen and the LEDs in the front and in the power button are blinking in unison about 1 second on and 6 seconds off.

I have read many threads of similar problems and contacted Dell support, but none of those helped.

Do I have a bad motherboard? Is there anything I can do? Thanks

Edit: I forgot to mention that I did try unplugging everything and holding the power button 30 seconds. I tried this with only the AC adapter (unplug main battery, unplug CMOS battery, hold power 30 seconds, plug in AC) and with reconnecting the main battery as well. I have also verified with a multimeter that the CMOS battery is not dead. I read just over 3V, which I think is good as it is labeled 3V.
