Dell XPS 15 9550: Windows 10 says password is incorrect when it wakes up from Sleep

This morning, I turned on my laptop and entered my password to sign in to Windows 10. Everything was normal as usual. In the noon, I put the laptop to sleep and then I left. After an hour, I resumed it, but Windows 10 said my password is incorrect. I checked my password several times and I’m quite certain it is correct, but the Windows 10 keeps saying the password is incorrect. I tried to restart Windows 10, but it still did not work. Why is this? How can I sign back to my Windows 10 now?

Dell XPS 15 9550: Why is Dell XPS battery not charging?

I have a Dell XPS 15 and gotten an alert before starting the laptop that reads "Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not be charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available. Note: This warning can be disabled in BIOS setup."

Since this appear the battery won't charge but laptop will be on if the charger is plugged in. It's not the battery nor charger the problem because it's still fairly new laptop. I did used a 90w charger which probably cause the problem because the laptop uses a 130w charger. However I have both and its still given me issue. Any suggestions to fix problem?

Dell XPS 15 9550: Display hinge broke from base

Hi,

My laptop hit the floor and the post that the laptop base hex screw attaches to snapped off. Not a problem, however the laptop keeps separating every time I close the lid and I have to push the top and bottom together to put the laptop to sleep. It’s now causing more internal damage and when I open it up, the clip has snapped off the laptop base as well as the screw hole to the base is also cracked in half. I’ve attached pics but wanted to know the hinge was attached to that I need to replace, as well as the hinge itself. This is on the same side as the power button. Any info would be very much appreciated. And not sure if the pictures uploaded or not but have those too.

Dell XPS 15 9570: Laptop not turning back on unless plugged in

I recently replaced the battery in my 9570, using the kit and battery from IFIXIT, along with a new RAM kit from Crucial. Since the replacement, when the laptop goes into hibernation mode, after being left alone, it won’t turn back on unless plugged in. The LED battery indicator light won’t even turn on when this happens. Sometimes the Dell screen will flash, then turn back off.

Once its back on, it can be unplugged and it behaves normally.

Dell XPS 15-L502X: How do I open this stripped screw in my laptop?

So, the screw the guy in the picture is unscrewing is in a hole and releases the CD tray. Now, that is stripped in my laptop. The laptop is 5 years old and has serious overheating problems. I think it needs to be cleaned and the heat sink paste needs to be changed but I can't get to the inside without opening this screw. I have tried sticking aflat screw keywith 2-3 kinds of adhesive like superglue and leave it for 10-12 hours. It sticks firmly, but as soon as I try to turn it, it comes off. I also took the laptop to 7-8 repair shops but all of them were unable to do it. Can it be removed?

Dell XPS M1530: Why don't my key presses respond right away?

I've had my laptop for over a year, and it developed this problem recently. About once a minute a key press (or lifting a key up) won't respond until a couple milliseconds after I hit the key (and in the lifting case the key will count as being pressed a couple milliseconds longer than I'm really pressing it). This causes me to die a lot in games that need precise timing!

I guess this could be a hardware or software problem, I'm not sure. I'm running Vista/Ubuntu in dual boot if that's helpful for some reason.

I do eat while computering often, but this doesn't sound like food stuck in the keyboard, does it?

I've tried uninstalling programs that had been recently installed when I noticed the problem, but that didn't change anything.

Well, thanks for at least reading my problem. Have a cool day everyone!

Dell XPS 13: Abrupt sleep after battery replacement, diagnostics can't find problem

Hello everyone,

I was very pleased with receiving a new battery replacement for my Dell XPS 13 9350. They battery works like it should…or at least I hope it is.

A new problem has started with my computer where my computer suddenly hibernates as if the battery was drained, but the computer is plugged in.

According to the Dell Support forum, when something like this happens, there should be a sequence of amber and white led blinks, which I never catch.

I’ve performed every diagnostic test on this device. Ran the Dell Support application. It found nothing wrong. Shut down and ran the Dell Support Diagnostics tests (F11 then use F12 to scroll down to Diagnostics), ran that and it found nothing. Checked the Event Viewer in the Microsoft Administrative tools. Even with a BSCS, the log is still greek to me, but one thing that caught my interest was that there was an information notice that a “Critical Battery Trigger Met” (Event 524, Kernel-Power) which makes no sense because the battery is plugged in and fully charged. A few seconds later according to the log an Event 42, Kernel-Power occurs stating that “The system is entering sleep” and “Sleep Reason: Battery”.

Either I installed a bum battery or the computer is rejecting it. II was working well yesterday. I event let the battery run for about 6 hours just to test the fitness of the new component ant it worked splendidly. But new this new issue started last night when I got home.

Two nights ago when I installed the battery, I had blown out as much dirt, hair, dust, and keyboard crud with a can of compressed air. Even with the added protection of a plastic keyboard cover, there was plenty of junk in there. Could something in the canned air corrupted something?

Another factor, I had tracked my package with UPS. According to the shipping log, the battery was still at a shipping facility over the weekend. Whats more, only of the people who live in the house either didn’t here the delivery person, or the delivery person didn’t knock. So the package, despite being layered in cardboard, foam, and an anti-static bag, sat out on my front porch in the 25-30 degree F weather for a few hours. Could outside weather conditions factored into this random behavior?

The manufacturer of the replacement battery is not Dell but an OEM. Could there be proprietary meddling?

What could be causing this malfunction?

Here’s what the summary looks like.

This chart shows battery usage over the past three days.

Update (01/31/2020)

It’s not the battery!

I’ve started to track the amber/white blinking pattern. It might be 4 amber 1 white 4 amber 1 white 4 amber 1 white before shutting off. Could it be a CMOS error?
