Dell XPS 13": Microphone dead (feedback when laptop is closed) in XPS 13 9315

The microphone on my laptop (XPS 13 9315) recently stopped working in a peculiar way:

The microphone does not pick up any sound (I gone through every permissions setting, etc). All of the drivers are up to date. I've tried just using the Sound Recorder and it is completely flatlined.

The camera still works just fine. As do the speakers.

When I close the laptop, before it goes to sleep, it produces some awful feedback noises if neither the mic nor speakers are muted.

I am tempted to think that it is a cable issue, but the fact that the camera is fully functional gives me some pause there.

The only insult that the laptop has sustained since I last used the microphone was that is was in a backpack in a hot car for a day which had me a little worried. That said, I hadn't used the mic for some time before this, so I do not have a clear link from this to the current state -- I just feel bad that it was in a hot car.

Dell XPS 13: Trackpad Randomly Stops Working

I have a Dell XPS 15 that is roughly 3 years old. The trackpad has recently entered periods where it will not work for several days. I have reinstalled the mouse drivers, and this did not fix anything. An external mouse works just fine. The computer has also been waking up from sleep mode which makes me wonder if the mouse is somehow sending signals even when it is not being activated. Since this issue has come and gone a couple of times in the past few weeks, I'm trying to decide whether this is a hardware or a software issue. Should I just replace the trackpad altogehter? Or is there a potential fix I can try first? Thank you so much!

Dell XPS 13 9310: How can I fix my XPS 13 9310 track pad buttons?

Hello, I have a Dell XPS 13 9310 0991 and the track pad buttons stopped working. The track pad itself works; I can move the pointer and click by tapping the track pad, but the right- and left- click buttons do not do anything when I press them.

I tried using these buttons in the BIOS to see if it was an OS issue (I'm using Linux Mint 22.3), and the same thing happened. The track pad works, but the buttons don't.

Dell XPS 13 9310: Turns on and off continuously

As soon as I plug in the power cord and open the laptop, it will start turning on for approximately 4 seconds then off for 7 seconds. The screen remains dark during this process. I removed the back cover and removed the battery and just plugged in power cord and received the same result. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what to do next? My theory is it’s a motherboard issue but it’s just a guess. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dell XPS 15 9560: Getting a "Alert! TPM device is not detected" error with new battery

I just replaced my aging battery with one from ifixit a couple weeks ago and I started getting an error on startup. It is a Dell SupportAssist error with service tag G4MHZF2 and says “Alert! TPM device is not detected”. There are three options, continue, bios setup and diagnostics but none are clickable. A hard reboot does not fix the issue. Not sure what to do.

Dell XPS 15 9530: Graphics card not detected in bios or windows

I have bought a dell xps 15 9530 a couple years back which has just about left warranty and no longer detects it has an rtx 4060 installed resorting exclusively to integrated graphics. I have tried updating bios, drivers and windows updates to no avail.

It still occasionally shows up after a reboot or update but it always quite quickly causes a blue screen, and disappears upon rebooting.

The best answer I've been able to find online, is that its a pretty common problem caused by a faulty capacitor on the motherboard causing it to not get detected. I'm quite tight on money at the moment and cant really afford to send it away to a repair shop since i need it for university too. Any ideas?

Besides the missing graphics card it functions completely fine.

Dell XPS 13 9360: Laptop won't power on after replacing battery and palmrest

Last week I replaced the battery in my XPS 13 9360. While doing so, I realized that the mounting plate for one of the hinges had snapped off of the chassis. So, I purchased a new palmrest and transplanted all of the components from the old chassis to the new one. In addition, I also replaced the charging port as it had been damaged when the mounting plate broke.

After replacing all of the components, the computer started up, and after reinstalling windows, it worked fine. Now, a week later, it will not start. When I press the power button, it lights up for around 10 seconds, and then the charging light flashes for a second, but nothing happens. When I plug the computer in to charge, the light turns on for a second, and then goes off.

I'm very confused given that it seems to have been working fine after the repairs. I don't know if the components I installed were OEM, so could this be the issue?

Dell XPS 9720: Laptop freeze after startup XPS 9730

My new XPS 17 freezes after startup. I downloaded Ubuntu, VirtualBox, and Kali Linux, and now the laptop won't work. It began lagging right after unboxing, and currently, it won't open any applications—it just freezes. I reached out to Dell for a replacement, concerned about facing the same issue with the XPS, given the lack of positive reviews online, except on the Dell website. I conducted a diagnostics test, and there were no errors.
