Dell Studio 15 Series: Laptop makes a clink noise and is off

I have a Dell Studio 15 laptop that is about a year and a half old. The laptop occasionally just makes a noise like a clink and is off. It does not do the shut down process. When i turn it back on it says windows did not shut down correctly and whether i want it to run in safe mode. I have already tried getting dell to fix it and they said that it would be a problem with the heat-sink. They replaced it but the problem is still there. Any help at all would be great. Thanks

Dell Studio 15 Series: Turns on using Media Button not power button

I have reloaded the OS without the media portion of the Dell installation, but unlike my other studio 15, this one only "powers on" after touching the "media" button. The power key does nothing. It will not power the laptop off or turn it such as on my other studio laptop. The Bios is the same and OS installation is for Vista, no special selection are made during installation so why would this PC not use the power button? Mind you the Dell Media software is not installed. So it should not be in play...

I have multiple things that my Dell Studio 17 will do that all seem to happen at the same time, but don't seem to be related. Here is what happens:

Flash player stops working and crashes browser

Bluetooth devices will not connect

Skype crashes

iTunes will not open

I have no idea how any of these would be connected, but the all seem to happen at the same time. I am going to reinstall the OS soon, but I just would like to know for curiosity's sake.

Dell Studio 1737: New screen: Power button cable turns latop off.

So I bought a replacement screen for my 1737. After replacing it I went to test, it lit up and started booting! SUCCESS!!!!

But then it turned off immediately.... after trying the usual suspects, just as I was giving up hope, I had a thought.

While it was powered, I reseated the cable to the power button. It started booting..... and turned off again.... strange.

I reseated it again, and unplugged it right after the latop started booting.... SUCCESS, for reals this time!!!!

So, Any advice or common issues with the power button cable or perhaps the button itself sending constant 'presses'???

I would like to be able to turn the laptop on without removing the keyboard and fiddling with the cable, haha.

Dell Studio: Can I close my laptop after dropping it?

My Dell Studio laptop fell to the floor while it was on. It still works great, but makes a noise when I start to close it. So I don't close it! I turn it on and off, but don't close it.

The only physical damage appears to that the left-side hinge, or pivot, is not firm, and the metal cover is slightly bent.

Question:

Can I go ahead and close the laptop completely, or might that cause some further damage internally, making it inoperable?

Thank you!
