Dell Latitude 7480: Why is my battery light turn off when I connect the charger.

Whenever I connect a charger to the laptop. The laptop battery light turns on for 3 sec and then turns off again. Then I disconnect the charger and again connect it with some force. then the light turns on and goes off again and after 2 sec, it turns on again, and the laptop starts charging and shows the time remaining to complete charging. Otherwise when the light goes off after 3 sec laptop shows (plugged in). I don't know when this is happening. Sometimes it takes 3 to 4 times (disconnect and connect) to start charging.
