Dell Latitude 7410: Keyboard typing extra adjacent letters

I have a Dell Latitude with an i7-10610U. The built-in keyboard suddenly started typing extra adjacent letters. For example, when I press Q, it types QA.

The issue affects multiple keys, while the number keys seem to work normally.

I tested with an external USB keyboard, and it works perfectly with no extra letters or typing issues.

Since the issue is with the built-in keyboard, I want to try fixing it myself before replacing the entire keyboard, since a replacement is quite expensive.

What could be causing this type of hardware failure, and what can I try to repair or clean first? Is there a way to fix the affected keyboard circuits/membrane or ribbon connection without replacing the whole keyboard? Thank you

Dell Latitude E6530: Dell Latitude E6530 not POSTing …

Hi Folks,

I have a Dell Latitude E6530 whose fan I thought was making some noises a few times. I would shutdown the laptop and reboot and the noise would be gone. Then a couple days or so later the Laptop just shut down whilst I was using it and then after that it wouldn't POST/Boot any more.

I transferred the Hard Drive to another Laptop to see if the Hard Drive was the problem but it's functioning fine.

The E6530 usually felt like it was running fairly warm but it's clean inside.

When I try to boot the Laptop, the Caps Lock LED lights up and the Hard Disk Device Status Light briefly comes on as the Laptop attempts, I think, to get the HD active and then it shuts down without even a glimpse of the P.O.S.T. being displayed.

Putting my fingers over the exhaust vent indicate that the fan comes on but it also makes a noise and then the Laptop shuts down.

Besides a Hard Reset (Step 2), I tried Step 6 on the following page but all I get is a quick blink of the Storage LED and nothing else which doesn't match any of the LED Codes listed in the Troubleshooting section of the User Manual.

https://www.dell.com/support/contents/en...

Step 6 produces the same result as when I try powering on the Laptop.

Do the symptoms and information indicate I should replace the Heat Sink and Fan unit?

Thanks!!

Dell Latitude 5175: Dell Latitude 5175 loose USB-C charging port requires specific angle to charge

The USB-C charging port on my Dell Latitude 5175 tablet has become loose. Currently, I have to hold and tighten the charging cable at a specific angle for it to start charging. There is no visible lint or damage inside the port, but it appears worn out or loose internally.

What is the best way to address this? Is the port replaceable, or are the motherboard solder joints likely failing? Any advice on repairing this issue without causing further damage would be appreciated.

Dell Latitude 5400: Dell Latitude 5400 BIOS Administrator Password Reset - Second Hand Device

I purchased a second-hand Dell Latitude 5400 (UK used), but the BIOS is locked with an administrator password. I cannot change boot settings to install a new OS.

I have already tried:

1. Removing the CMOS/coin-cell battery for several minutes (did not clear the password).

2. Entering the wrong password to get a hint (I have the Service Tag, but the master password generators I found online haven't worked yet).

Is there a specific jumper on the motherboard for this model to clear the PSWD, or is the password stored in a non-volatile chip that requires a BIOS chip programmer to clear? Any advice from technicians who have handled this specific model would be greatly appreciated.
