Dell Inspiron M5110: How to get the keyboard and mousepad to work?

I have been working on this computer for quite some time. The problem is the Keyboard and mouse pad on the laptop will not work. They are plugged into the motherboard. I can plug a keyboard into the usb slot; but it does tend to act up. When I plug a mouse to it, it will light up but will not be responsible. I can use it if I put my finger right up to the sensor of the mouse. Left and right click works just fine. This portable mouse and keyboard I have been using works on other computer just fine. When plugging a flash drive into it it works fine.

Here are some other work I have done to the computer. I have replaced the Cmos and flash the Bios. I have reapplied thermal paste to the processor. I took the HDD out and clean it of viruses on another computer. I have even checked for rootkits on the computer I am working on. I have tried updating the the keyboard and mouse drivers. I have tried, but failed to update the chipset. I got all my drivers and update from the Dell website for this specific computer.

There is no corrosion. There is no signs of liquid damage. The computer will boot into window just fine now that I have removed the viruses. I just cannot get the keyboard and touchpad on the laptop to work and usb input devices does not work correctly besides flash drive. I have not replaced the keyboard and touchpad yet. I didn’t want to put the money into it if I can’t fix it. I want to assume it is the motherboard; but everything else works beside what I have mentioned. It puzzles me. Since I am so close to fixing it, I do not want to give up. Any advice will help.

This is my first time on this site so hopefully everything answering and navigating process will go smoothly.

Dell Inspiron M5110: Why do some of the keys on my keyboard not work?

Certain keys on my keyboard do not respond when I press on them. They feel like they are not being fully compressed when I type and only occasionally will work if I push really hard on them.
