Dell Inspiron 6000: Needs a new battery-Where should I look?

Hello! I've got this 20 year old Inspiron 6000, and the battery is completely dead. As in the computer can't even detect the presence of a battery. I've gotten it to boot while using the power adapter, so it's definitely the battery (which I have taken out and reinstalled multiple times). It's really easy to replace it (all you have to do is pull a slider, and out it comes-ahem, Apple), so I have no concern about that. My only problem is finding one. I don't think Dell still manufactures those batteries. Does anyone know of a reputable seller that carries these batteries?

looking for help diagnosing this issue. Tried it without battery, nothing. Ram reseated, tried one stick at a time, new CPU, reflow + additional solder on DC power connector and to no avail. If anyone could offer help it would be greater appreciated.

No specific error codes are produced, no fan spin or noise or anything, just rapid blinking on the left and right leds on the front of the laptop, nothing on middle led

Dell Inspiron 6000: How do I fix my broken audio-out jack?

I have a problem that's been pestering me for quite a while. About three years ago I began to intermittently lose sound from the intergrated speakers on my Dell Inspiron 6000. This loss became more and more frequent, and as of now I cannot play the sound from the onboard speakers unless I place something into my headphone or microphone jacks. To be more descriptive, I take a 1/8" headphone jack plug and stick it in about halfway, then angle it downward and hold it there. I usually use my wallet to prop against the plug -- it's thick enough to hold it in place, but not too thick to break the plug or jack. This, and only this, usually gets the sound to work from the external speakers.

The headphone jack used to work just fine otherwise, but has over time stopped transmitting sound more and more to the headphones.

About two years ago, I tore apart the whole enchilada. There were no broken wires anywhere, and the headphone/mic jacks were soldered to the motherboard. I looked around and nothing appeared to be burned out.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about fixing this problem? The laptop runs like a champ, even though it's approaching 4 years.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Dell Inspiron 6400: How to fix my motherboard?

Hi

Please help me repair the motherboard of my Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop. The laptop doesn't start when I push the power button.

Here it is what I tried so far:

- start it without battery in, only using power adapter

- start it without any RAM

- start it using a known good power adapter

- CMOS reset

But my laptop is dead. No beep, no LEDs, nothing.

The power adapter is putting out 19.8V.

I have the service manual, I have even the schematics of entire laptop. I opened it looking for any obvious signs of damage on the motherboard. But no luck. I checked if DC power socket is firm in place. It is.

I am quite proficient at electronics, but not too familiar with laptop repair. Perhaps somebody can tell me where to start measuring the basic voltages (3.3V, 5V, etc). I can take photos of motherboard if that will help identify strategic points for measurements.

Thank you.
