Dell Inspiron 15R: Dell inspiron 15R N5010 laptop not starting up.

I was playing a full HD video on it. Suddenly the screen flickers one or two times and went black. The screen also went to something with green vertical stripes, somewhere in between the flickers. There was also a noise through my headset, which sounded like a motorised woodcutter. The backlight was still on. I tried everything that came to my mind with which could close the application. Nothing seemed to work. So I gave it a few minutes to close the app on its own, but didnt work. Also the harddisk activity light was completely off. I long pressed the power button, turning it off.

When I powered it on again, the power light came on and the activity light stayed on for about 2 seconds and went off. Also during that time the cd drive light blinked twice. No cd were inside it. The screen stayed off (not even the backlight). Then there was nothing. Tried a few button strokes on the wireless keyboard, but nothing happened.

My windows 8.1 audio driver already had some glitches after I installed the google hangouts Chrome app.

Can anyone tell me what could have gone wrong?

I can dissassemble the whole laptop. I've done it 6 mnths ago to change the hdd and to clean up the dirt.

Dell Inspiron 15R: My Dell inspiron 15R display goes black after using for some time?

Hi guys

I'd bought a Dell's AMD version of inspiron 15r laptop about 3 years ago.

I have been experiencing a very annoying and frustrating problem since last few months.

While I was doing some work on it,

the screen went black all of a sudden.

It happened once few hours prior to then, and force rebooting had solved the problem at that time, so I calmed myself and did a force reboot.

But it didn't solve the problem this time.

I tried rebooting 3,4 times, but still no solution.

The screen was black even in the entire process of booting from the beginning.

I also found out that the screen wasn't totally black.

The screen had shown very mere display which was like 0.001% away from perfect dark black.I did as much research as I can for solution, but I couldn't get any good answer..

I couldn't solve it for several hours.

Several hours passed , and I tried booting it up again.

For few minutes, it seemed to be the same old black (or dark) screen.

But it automatically turned back to normal brightness again.

I haven't done anything to it.

Every now and then after working just fine for an hour or so, the screen goes black. The sound and all is clearly audible if a video or audio is playing but there is no display on the screen.

I'm wondering why this is happening..

Can anyone give me an answer to this?

Is it a problem of loosened cable connection to the screen or it is with motherboard or LCD Screen itself ???

Dell Inspiron 15R: Can I replace my laptop's hinge cover without disassembling it?

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R 5537 with broken hinge covers, and i saw online in a video that in order to replace these hinge covers, i have to disassemble my laptop to the display screen part off in order to replace the hinge covers, now is it possible to just insert these hinges into their places, without breaking them? the laptop's hinges are exposed, and someone told to just pop them in, but I'm afraid ill break them which will lead me to wait another whole month, so is it possible?

I see the battery is getting charged and discharged. Only problem is during startup.

I got it checked in PC repair centre but no luck.

Dell Inspiron 15R: Help trying to see what is wrong! Mother board or Circuit board?

My daughter spilled some sprite on my laptop on the way home from our vacation. Not sure how much just that my bag was damp & my lap top would not turn on. I took it apart & did not see any liquid spots, none of it was sticky. I still cleaned it & put it back together & it still would not turn on. I think it was still on in my bag when the sprite was spilled so I am worried it is either the circuit board or mother board. I was able to take the hard drive off & get the info from it but I would like to fix my computer. How can I tell if it is the mother board or circuit board that needs replacing? It is a Dell Inspiron 15R 5520. PS I am no computer tech this is literally the 2nd time I have ever taken one apart so the more details you can give me the better. Thanks!!
