Dell Inspiron 15: Laptop keeps losing internet connection

I purchased a new laptop at the start of September. It's been working great, except in the last two weeks I keep losing my internet connection.

Within just the last two weeks, I've had some other family members come to live with me. They're able to access the internet with their devices, no problem. But my computer keeps losing its connection.

Even during the times I can't access the internet, my computer shows that it's connected to the network. The built-in network troubleshooter can't find anything wrong. If I restart the router, sometimes it helps. Sometimes it doesn't. Even if it helps, it's only a temporary fix.

I've tried using different browsers, disabling firewalls, restarting the computer, updating OS software, scanning for malware, etc. I'm at my wit's end.

Any ideas?

Dell Inspiron 15: Replacing the CMOS battery in this model?

Hello, I actually own the 3542 not the 3541 that I selected but it was the only option and plus they seem nearly identical.

Whenever I boot up the laptop I get five beeps. I looked up the beep codes and apparently that means the CMOS Battery is failing. Was just curious if anyone had a guide? Instructions? Or anything. Even where to buy a quality replacement battery.

Thanks

Dell Inspiron 15: Backlit keyboard not working

I have an Inspiron 15-3585 - (it wasn't listed in the list of models, so I choose the closest.) I bought a backlit keyboard for a 15-7000/5765/5767/5565. I’ve installed it, I've connected up both the keyboard backlight connector- (there was actually this connector on the motherboard, so it must be able to support it) and keyboard connector to the motherboard. It physically fits, and the keyboard works without a drama, except for no backlight.

The fn+f10 key combo doesn't work - but the fn keys and the f10 keys by themselves work, and the bios shows the keyboard isn't installed to have backlighting. I've updated the bios from version 1.0 to v1.4, still doesn't recognise the backlighting option - in the bios, it's one of those informational things you can't actually change.

Is there a way of forcing the bios to recognise the backlighting? Or forcing the backlighting to come on? Regardless of what the bios says?
