Dell Inspiron 15-7559 Repair: plastic housing broke near monitor's left hinge. help: finding parts

Hi boys and girls

My girl friend's laptop's outer shell broke close to the left hinge of the monitor (pictures on google drive: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1yioxZ-...). Dell charged 68$ to ship the laptop to repair center for inspection and 98$ for replacing the bottom and palm rest plastic housing (part labor and tax). they didn't acknowledge this as a defect because it doesn't happen often enough. My girl friend uses this laptop to run SAS so it's just under normal daily use and my girlfriend claimed she never dropped it. This failure seems very weird to me.

I wish I could find the housing from ebay or ifixit so I can DIY the repair if this happens again. but I don't know the part number. Could someone teach me how to find part number of a laptop part(housing for this case, but sometimes fan and other parts broke too) and the best place to find them? I think someone else will benefit from it too.

Thanks a lot!

Dell Inspiron 15-7559 Repair: WiFi Range almost gone

Hello,

As many other people experienced, the display hinges of my 7559 became loose. The threads where you screw in the display broke off on the left side. As a consequence, whenever I closed/opened my screen, the hinge moved as a whole and lifted the top part of the case up. I fixed this by buying a new bottom base and migrating the laptop to it. At the same time as the hinge started to malfunctioning, my WiFi signal all of a sudden dropped to 1 bar, even though I’m sitting right next to the router. Also, it didn’t detect any other WiFis, even though there are usually about 8 other WiFi networks. The problem even remained after exchanging the white and black antenna cables on the wifi card with each other (meaning I plugged in the white cable where the black one was, and the black one where the white one was). When I use my phone as a hotspot and extend my arm away from the laptop holding the phone, the signal dropps to 1 bar. The closer I get to the laptop/screen, the stronger it gets.

Dell said that it might be the antenna cable. Since I don’t have warranty it would cost me around 200€. Any ideas what I can do before sending it in? I assume the antenna cables are the issue, but it might also be the WiFi card, though I dount it..

Dell Inspiron 15-7559 Repair: My screen only works sometimes. Is this an LCD, cord, or other issue?

My screen first started having issues with sometimes not turning on after coming out of sleep, but a restart would fix it. Then I was able to solve the issue by disabling sleep when closing the lid, which worked for a little while, but then it would not go to sleep, but the screen would turn off and wouldn’t return even with a restart. Same thing happens if I shut it down, when I power it back on, the keyboard lights up but not the screen. The warning lights on the front are consistent with LCD Failure according to the codes list, but I just don’t understand how the LCD only works sometimes? Maybe that’s a lack of my knowledge showing, but I figured if the screen didn’t work it would never work? Eventually I could convince it to turn back on with a lot of effort, but I have gotten to where I often just keep it on or don’t close it to avoid this.

It does start up consistently when attached to an external monitor like my tv with the HDMI, and the screen will then stay on even after disconnecting the tv. In fact, recently it was having issues, so I successfully started it by connecting it to the tv, then disconnected the tv, and then after that, it would successfully shut down and power back on or even come out of sleep or closed lid without issues… for about a day, then the issue returned. I feel confident I could replace the screen or the LCD cord myself but I have no idea if those are the issue and would rather not waste the money on those if they won’t fix the issue. Diagnostics don’t indicate any issues.

Also, I have had the typical issues with the left hinge and wonder if that could have impacted this or damaged the cord? Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Dell Inspiron 15-7559 Repair: My Dell Inspiron 15-7559 Laptop Not turning on

So Long story short I had to fix my wireless card on my laptop which I have not turned it on for like 2-3 months.

when I put everything together I realised that the keypad was not working at all but I still could use the laptop. Next day I opened my laptop and my daughter was watching something on it then she shut its lid after watching it while the apps were still running. Then I fixed the mousepad but when I put everything together again I realised the laptop is dead (not turning on). The power light comes on and when I press the power button the power light blinks so it registers.

Has anyone experienced the exact problem? Would it be the motherboard battery coz it got lose the first time I played with it.

thanks in advance.

Update (08/09/2021)

Just a quick update.

I have fixed the restarting error by replacing the cmos battery.it works very well now but now I have encountered another problem. The touch pad does not work now. I have tried everything but I am unable to get it work. I’m told to update bios but since my battery doesn’t hold charge I am unable to to that.

is there any chance I can fix that issue?

cheets

Dell Inspiron 15-7559 Repair: Why are there purple and green lines in the bottom part of the screen?

I was just playing some games on my computer when green and purple lines randomly appeared in the bottom quarter of my screen. I plugged my laptop into an external monitor and there were no lines on it. Does this mean that I have to replace my LCD panel? Or can I possibly fix this through installing drivers or other software?

Dell Inspiron 15-7559 Repair: Won't power on after diagnostics

I have 7559 worked fine for 3 years accept screen. I have changed the display cable and the screen started to work well. But in a few hours the audio, wifi and USB ports started not to work. I couldn't find them in the device manager. I installed the drivers again but nothing happened. A clean win 10 install did not help. Also the laptop fans were working after shut down.I used diagnostics with F12 at the startup, the quick one said everything is normal. Tried the expanded one. After one hour of diagnostics the laptop shut down and did not power on. When I press the power button no light no fan on the battery. On AC when I press the power button the white LED blink only one time and nothing happens.

After that I tried the to drain the statics and took off the battery and pressed 1 min power button. Put on AC and Nothing happened. Tried lots of time and nothing.

Also I have noticed the Intel chipset ( I am not sure what it was but it was located down of the CPU and aliminium cover was on it) was very hot and some smell on it. The CPU and gpu were looking good.

What can I do. I dont want to spend 500 bucks for this laptop with changing mainboard.
