Dell Inspiron 15-3521: Dell Inspiron 15 (3521) is the LCD and the rest of the glass fused

I got very lucky and had a friend donate a dell inspiron 15 to me that she no longer used for school because the screen is broken. It has a touch screen. The glass is broken pretty good and I know if I continue to use it the LCD will eventually break as well. I can't figure out any were wether I need to purchase the lcd and screen together or if I can just replace the digitizer. I don't know to much about computers but I do know with alot of the newer phones and tablets they fuse the screen together. I don't have a separating machine so I would have to purchase a set already fused together if that was the case. Can someone please shed some light on this for me. I'm currently unemployed so I'm hoping I can just replace the glass since the LCD is still perfect. Ty

Dell Inspiron 15-3521: Why does the laptop turn on then off right away?

So when I turn on the laptop I can hear the fan running and I see the lights indicating its on turn on but then it immediately shuts off with in a few seconds, the screen doesn't even have a chance to turn on. My guess is that it's probably the motherboard or the harddrive but I'm not a computer expert so I'm 100% sure if thats the right diagnosis. Thank you if you're able to help.

Dell Inspiron 15-3521: Error 0xc0000185 BSOD after Windows 8.1 to 10 update

Hey iFixit community,

After updating my Dell Inspiron 3521 from Windows 8.1 to 10, a nice BSOD showed up with the error code 0xc0000185. It said "You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer." I have tried multiple solutions from other websites to no avail. The furthest I have gotten was changing my BIOS settings from UEFI to Legacy boot, allowing it to boot from USB drives. However, with no other drives plugged in, it detects no bootable media. Has the hard drive failed? Will I need to purchase a new copy of Windows (I do not have the original product key)?

Service Tag: DHKC0X1

Thanks for any help,

Tanner Lange

P.S. If you need any more information/pictures, I will update this post as soon as possible.
