Dell Inspiron 1420: Battery light flashing amber

I found an old Dell Inspiron 1420 and have been repairing it slowly over the last month or two. Recently I purchased this replacement charger for it as the laptop wouldn’t charge on my existing one designed for an HP laptop. With this new charger the “non-genuine adapter” message goes away and the computer reports it’s trying to charge the battery but it appears to remain uncharged no mater how long it’s plugged in. The bios says it is unable to communicate with the battery. The battery light on the laptop will blink amber forever when the laptop is plugged in on the new charger. I’m unsure what this means but my best guess is given the laptops age the battery is bad and will need to be replaced, but I wanted to double check before I order a new battery.

Dell Inspiron 1420: Hard drive is not being detected? Mother board problem!

I have my PC for 4 years now. One fine morning, the windows start up logo appeared for more than it should be and finally it gave a blue screen error. It repeated everytime from then onwards. I then decided to reset it to factory settings and then i opened my pc in repair mode. (Alt +f8). Then i realised that the computer is not detecting my Hard drive.

So i ran diognosis test and found an error that "Hard drive error". I bought a new hard disk and tried to install windows. I got the same error and i realised that. Its the mother board problem.

Dell Inspiron 1420: amber flashing light returns and won't disappear

This issue started happening with my laptop about 2 yrs after I replaced the damaged charge port (2020.) Although I've purchased two new batteries in 2 yrs, the amber flashing light returns and won't disappear even with a semi charged battery (52% plugged in not charging.) Does anyone know what the faulty issue is? (DELL Inspiron 5558)
