Dell G3 15 3590: Hinge mounting points on display are broken.

I own a Dell G3 15 3590 Laptop purchased in January 2020 with 1 year warranty. The right hinge however has fallen apart. Well, the plastic holding the screws that secured hinge to the display has fallen apart.

After speaking with dell the warranty does not cover “Cosmetic” issues like that apparently.

I am not inexperienced in personal electronics repair and I am able to replace the whole display but, y'know. If I can get away with just using the current display now rather than ordering a new display I'd prefer to do that.

Dell G3 3579: Motherboard Short circuit or Failure?

I have been recently having a lot of issues with my Dell G3 3579

This time while i was restarting my GPU driver using Ctrl+Shift+Alt+B my laptop froze up, i could hear the music still in the background but the screen went black, so i shut it down by holding the power button,

However after that my laptop has never turned on, i have done hard reset, cleared the cmos by removing the 2032 battery and completely replaced it, reseated the charging port, reseated the memory and the SSD and 2.5 drive and i only see a faint split second led flash when trying to turn it on sometimes on battery power, disconnecting the battery or trying to turn it on on plugged in does nothing, not even that split second led, i have taken a look at the mobo itself and i do not see any bad or blown components, i have also measured parts of the Motherboard circuit with a multi meter and there is power going to proper places.

The laptop is also not in warranty and i am not in the US for better parts service.

Dell G3 15 3590: Replacing a modular USB component on motherboard

Hi there,

First time posting so apologies for any errors.

I recently purchased one of these laptops second-hand because I'm going on holiday soon and up until now I didn't have a functional laptop. It was in good quality for a fair price, save for one problem: the two USB ports on the right-hand side of the laptop are non-functional.

This isn't a major problem since I have a USB hub I can use but I decided to open the laptop up to see if there was anything I could do about it. I have novice-level experience with repairing laptops so I hoped I could spot any obvious errors. I didn't have any luck with repairing the USBs but I did notice that the section of the motherboard they are connected to appears to be modular:

I am confident in my ability to replace it but the problem is I have no idea what this part is called, let alone where I would begin looking for a replacement (or if it's even modular at all). Does anyone know what this part is?

Thank you in advance.

Dell G3 15 3500: Hard disk gets detected then undetectable when trying to access it.

Hello, my Dell laptop was starting to not detect the hard disk since due to a Windows Update. Tried to System Restore but again faced the BSOD. It got to a point where the SupportAssist OS Recovery can even cause the hard disk to become undetectable when it's used for like resetting. I tried to use a Windows 10 ISO USB to install, and the hard disk can be displayed when trying to install, but at some percentage it shows "Windows cannot access the installation sources" and the hard disk once again becomes undetectable (It did succeed in formatting the hard disk).

Note that the hard disk will once again be detectable after around 3 to 4 hours when left on in BIOS settings or just turned off. I just want to find a way to fix this hard disk not found at all, or at the least eliminate the four hour wait to get hd disk detectable where there's high chance that it gets undetectable.

Please guide me to fix this, any method is appreciated and feel free to ask any information about my laptop. One method can be to boot OS from USB, but I want to know other methods. (Preferable methods are those not involving disassembly of laptop for fixing physically in the inside but any method is allowed to be posted here)

Dell G3 15 3500: Laptop shuts down randomly when connected to power supply.

Hello, my Dell G3 3500, which is 3 years old, shuts down most of the time after sometime when connected to power supply. This has only occurred after I reinstall Windows 11 in June this year. The fans kick in, and then the taskbar shows an application with no icon, the error sound of Windows 11 triggers and then the laptop shuts down. Event Viewer cannot identify the problem and the surface of the laptop wasn't too hot as I have a cooling pad. It happens anytime, whether I browse Google or play some video games. Defender doesn't detect any virus but Microsoft is becoming a virus to me! SFC detects nothing and drivers are all good. All I know is that this problem never occurs again after turning on the laptop when it abruptly shut down. This problem might occur after 15 minutes or upto 3 hours. Please help me fix this as I always need to remain connected. Any solution would be very helpful! Thank you.

Dell G3 3579: Is the motherboard shorted?

Hi.

My G3 3579 doesn’t turn on nor shows signs of life at all. It doesn’t even turn on the leds when the AC adapter is plugged in.

I don’t know exactly what happened, but my guess is that the motherboard shorted / fried because I opened the laptop to clean the fans, and completely removed several pieces until I realized I forgotten to FIRST unplug the battery.

When I tried to turn it on after I reassembly it, it did turned on but the Dell logo didn’t show up. Fans, keyboard and lights went all on, then turned off again in like 1 sec. I tried several times to turn it on, until it completely stopped to show signs of life and now it is as I first mentioned: not even turns led on when the AC adapter is plugged in.

What tests should I run? What’s your guess, can this be solved?
