The LCD was broken by a student. I replaced it and the LCD cable, but the touchscreen does not recognize touch. The Chromebook works fine using the touchpad.

Hi there!

We have the new 2024 Dell Chromebook 3120 (link here) for our school district.

Our team usually handles Chromebook repairs, and in the past, we’ve been able to enable to bypass the read-write protection on all models without any issues.

However, we’re having trouble with the 3120 model. We tried following the process we used successfully on the previous Chromebook 3110 model, even putting the device in developer mode and attempting to disable it manually in CROSH, but no luck so far.

Here’s the process we used for the 3110 model, which doesn’t seem to be working for the 3120.

Is there a new process we should follow for the 3120?

While I was using my Chromebook, I was typing and then it shut down for no reason and for some reason, I wasn't pressing the power button nor the power button on the menu of the system where it shows the time. Can someone explain to me how can this happen? (Btw, it is a school Chromebook. also, I did not have apps open and I was just using Google Chrome with not too many tabs like only 3 tabs open, and still turns on with no problem like nothing ever happened.)

I have a dell 5190 chromebook that will not turn on. The charger is working. I believe the battery charge level is good as the last time I used it it was fully charged. I tried a hard reset but nothing happens. The power light on the chromebook will not come on.

I have weird sounds problem with my Chromebook whenever I charge it. and it comes from the left side of the laptop. I also went to the shop where I bought it a year ago. they found no problem with it. but it only happens when am home. they fix it. sound on the laptop go loud when I come back from the shop. but it go low when i used my charge.

Should i go back to place and get new laptop or new charge for same laptop i have for an year now.

Dell Chromebook: Random letters being pressed with one key

I have several Dell 5190 2-in-1 Chromebooks that are showing the same symptoms. They come in with the complaint that some letters are inserting random characters while others are either shutting the Chromebook down or restarting it, or acting as the return key.

I made sure they are all set to the US Keyboard, I tried a powerwash, I even went as far as replacing the keyboard. Still, this continues to happen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do not see any signs of water or liquid damage on these units. I also do not see anything wrong with the mainboard itself. It is just very random.
