Hi! Before returning the product, I just want to confirm if my machine is defective. Whenever I try to use the hot water mode or try a double espresso mode, it sounds like world war 2. Thank you

DeLonghi Dedica EC680: Pump sounds but no water from portal filter

We have a 9-year-old EC680 and suddenly the portal filter is not fed. At 06:00 I took a shot, at 13:00 only the pump sounded but no water appeared at the portal filter. After some seconds the pump turned off, because no water was flowing. No strange LEDs. Sadly I did no further tests.

This night I disassembled the machine until I could slide the inner parts out, powered -> only pump sounds, disconnected the flowmeter, powered -> suction on the pipe! I've opened the flowmeter, it's clean. Reconnected flowmeter, suction. Because there was no longer any fault I assembled the machine, powered -> no water. Then I switched to steam and this worked (unfortunately I didn't try this before disassembling). And afterwards even the portal filter got water.

So ... even in case the EC680 will brew next morning ... what was the fault / which parts should I replace when I get the fault again? I've seen the disassembling video and perhaps that small ball got stuck in the housing? The higher pressure of the steam setting got it loose? Any other idea?

Best regards, Vitus

DeLonghi Dedica EC680: Steam and water only drip out for a few seconds, loud pulsing sound

Hi all,

I've recently picked up my dedica EC680 and it's making great coffee, but anything relating to steam or water doesn't work properly.

Espresso works great but whenever I turn the tap all the way to the steam\water mode, instead of hot water running from the tap, water drips until full stop after a few seconds. After the water stops, some steam comes out, and then the buttons start to flicker 3 times.

There are some pulses that seem to come from the white valve (I've attached a video) and it seems like something is stuck. Steam doesn't last more than a few seconds either. ⏎
If I turn the tap not all the way, and then press one of the espresso buttons, then water flows more freely, although only for the duration of an espresso shot.

I've tried descaling, and it was a nightmare. Basically the descaling plan got stuck just like normal water flow, and I had to manually pull and pour the descaling solution by pressing the buttons and pulling the lever over the course of a few hours, and that didn't help.

I've opened to top part to see how the silicone pipes look and they're as clean as a whistle, not a drop of scaling.

Anyway, I'd love to repair it but I don't know where to start. The screws on the bottom are of an unknown shape, and I don't want to do any more damage, but repairing it is gonna cost a lot...

I'd appreciate any help, thanks !

DeLonghi Dedica EC680: Delonghi EC702: Latte works, espresso is defunct. Pump problem?

We have a DeLonghi EC702 espresso machine. Its "latte" function works, but its "espresso" doesn't. My observations of its three buttons and their indicators:

I turn the machine on (depress top button, top LED lights red) and wait 15 minutes until it's fully heated (middle LED lights green). When I depress the middle button, which should run the espresso system, nothing whatsoever happens: no sound, no sign of any action. When I depress the bottom button for the steamer (bottom LED lights red), and I turn the knob to release steam, it works correctly.

As far as I can tell with a circuit tester, the middle button's switch is working correctly. But I'm not completely certain of this; it's a bit tricky to be probing within the case, and I'm reluctant to disassemble the thing enough to isolate the switch without need.

Is this likely to be a pump problem? An electrical failure? Do such machines use separate pumping systems for the espresso and latte outputs?

Thank you for any advice.
