Can’t get it to power on at all. Never used turntable. Used cassette, cd, and radio with no prior issues. The cord is in good shape. Unplugged when not in use. What steps can I take myself to try and fix? Took the bottom cover off, but can’t see how to get further inside as appears to all be laminated wood and no other openings.

Sounds like a normal thing, right? As soon as the music started playing, it was highly distorted. Any answers?

Not so fast it's on the wrong setting, just enough to be disorienting when I listen to songs I know well. I get the impression most record players have a way to subtly adjust the speed.
