Craftsman zero turn mower: Why does my pto click when key is turned, but blades won't engage?

I checked wiring, belts, spindles, the fuse behind seat. All good. I did put a 30 amp fuse, instead of 20. I was cutting, stopped. Started mower back up, no blades. I checked safety switches. For some reason I'm having to jump my battery since this has happened. I sure could use any advice and I thank yall
