Coolpix S01: cant see out the kens to take a picture

My camera turns on and I can view the pictures already on it. The lens opens up but the screen is blank. So you can't take a picture. No info on it about a malfunction. Bought a new battery and it is fully charged.

Coolpix S01: The viewing screen, and resultant pictures are very faded

On our Coolpix S01 camera, which has worked great since we got it in 2013, the screen, and all the pictures are very faded. Wondering if this is a battery issue--or something else going on with the camera. Can the battery be changed easily? (Of course, we did charge it completely before checking it out).

Thanks for any help anyone can give us! (can't find our manual, but we can download one if we need to.)
