1971-1996 Chevrolet Van: What can cause our ignition switch to not turn over with key in it

Hi fellas, we recently bought a 1988 Chevrolet G20 camper Van and we were having to wiggle the key to get the ignition to turn over but once we get it to turn it cranks just fine. Today, after trying for hours, we can’t get it to turn over, we tried turning the wheel, we tried getting a new key thinking the key was worn out but it still won’t turn over now.
1971-1996 Chevrolet Van: Right hand brake light/blinker not working

So I have a 1990 Chevrolet Astro. My right hand (passenger side) brakelight/blinker doesn’t work when I flip my turn signal stock. I looked under my dash at some wires and found that there is an electronic box connected near the top of my brake pedal.

In this box is space for three wires with the middle space empty. The top wire is white. The middle wire space is empty. The bottom wire is two orange wires.

Separately, there is a red wire dangling down, unconnected to anything. Is it safe to assume that red wire goes in the middle space?

1971-1996 Chevrolet Van: 99 GMC Safari Electrical Short/Draining Batteries?

I have a 99 GMC Safari. A few weeks ago, I tried to start it and it would turn over but wouldn’t start. I took the bus to school because I didn’t have time to look into the problem. That weekend, I went to check it out and fix the problem, but this time the battery was completely dead.

I took the battery in to get tested, and the testers said it was completely toast. I bought a new one, and when I installed it, the lights and everything worked in the van. But when I went to start the car, it seemed like there was a short or something because everything went dead as soon as the starter engaged. The battery would no longer turn the lights on and the car wouldn’t start or turn over.

Do you know what this might be?
