Hewlett Packard 43100A: HP 43130A Defibrillator – No Shock Output / Burnt PCB Area

Hello everyone,

I'm currently repairing an HP 43130A Defibrillator (classic model). The unit powers on and charges, but no shock is delivered when the discharge buttons are pressed.

Upon inspection, I found a burnt area on the power/HV PCB, likely linked to the discharge path. I’ve attached detailed photos showing:

The burnt track (bottom layer of the board)
The power board from the top (showing transformer, IGBT/MOSFET, HV caps)
The relay, charge selector, and control ICs

🔧 What I’ve done so far:

Disconnected and tested the IGBT (likely for discharge path) — unsure if it's fully functional
Measured voltage across HV caps: they charge correctly (200–300V DC)
Replaced some resistors and cleaned up the carbon traces

❓My questions:

What is the most likely failure point causing shock not to discharge?
Could the relay or the switching transistor be shorted/open even if no visible damage is present?
Is there a known weak spot in the 43130A high voltage discharge path?

If anyone has the Service Manual or board layout for this exact model (43130A), I’d greatly appreciate it.

If the EKG device that has a 10 ohm patient cable uses a 0 ohm patient cable, what will be the problem?

Powerheart G3: Broken contact on plastic mount

Hi,

Our club has the above defib. We've recently replaced the battery after which we found one of the battery contacts had broken. On investigation a small plastic clip containing the contacts had a broken contact. I’m trying to find a company who could effect a repair, just needs a new plastic bracket containing the contacts. Unfortunately Zoll will not sell the bracket to me. Are there companies who could d this repair in the UK?
