Canon Powershot A720 IS: With new batteries my camera turns off

I put new AA batteries in my camera and still it turns off a few seconds after turning on. It will take Pictures and videos in that time, And play them. I have tried several new batteries As well as rechargeable batteries. As soon as I turn on camera I get a recharge prompt even with new batteries. Hope you can help. Thanks

Canon Powershot A720 IS: Will not hold time and date

When I switch the camera on, the set time and date message comes on the screen. This has to be set before the message clears from the screen. The next time the camera on you have to go through the same procedure again.

My battery door words fine, but it does not lock onto the plastic casing, due to the moldings on the inner casing being broken.

Picture quality is poor since the camera got dropped. They are either too bright or horizontal stripes appear over the image. Video quality if fine, so the lens is good IMHO. Can it be fixed?
