Canon Powershot S3 IS: getting message to change the batteries after doing so

I used the camera less than a month ago. Now getting the message to change the batteries and have done so with NEW ones. Powers up ok, but after trying to take pic, gives the change batteries message. Have cleaned the "terminals" on the battery compartment door and have taken out memory card and reinserted.

well...i brough fresh new nimh 2800 amh batteries and uhh my stupid friend broke off the two plastic hooks which was meant to hold the batter box's cap...i tied it up my many rubber bands and it wont turn on...plus i thought it was the sensor was not working or smth...it just wont turn on

Hello folks!

I’ve been having this weird issue with my Powershot S95 where the flash sometimes gets stuck when it’s supposed to retract. It’s happened a few times now—both when turning the camera on and off—and I keep getting this “Wrong flash position” error on the screen.

What’s happening:

- The flash stays out and won’t go back in on its own.

- If I gently push it, it doesn't budge, so I don’t wanna force it.

- No dirt or damage that I can see, and it doesn’t seem to happen at any specific time.

Has anyone else run into this? I’m not sure if it’s a software glitch or if the mechanism’s wearing out. Any tips or fixes would be awesome—thanks in advance!

Canon Powershot S3 IS: My camera takes black pictures. How do I fix it?

I have a Powershot S3 IS. Its has been a very good camera for me.

Yesterday I was talking some pictures in a museum and the camera suddenly starting taking black pictures. In all conditions and settings camera is taking black pictures. I am not able to see the actual scene that I want to capture. Camera shows it black. But capturing pictures is working normal and capturing black pictures. I can see all the graphics and setting numbers on LCD and View finder. I can also see previously captured pictures and videos without any problem.

Please guide me how can I fix this problem.

Yes by blinking I mean moving parts. Whenever I clicked a pictures there use to be a blink in the lens. I don't see that blink since the camera has stopped working.

When I turn the camera on, the lens stays extended and the LCD screen displays "Lens Error/Will shut down automatically/Restart now." I've tried turning the camera off and on again but the error still displays. When the camera is off, the lens remains extended.
