Canon PowerShot SD960 IS: “Change battery pack” only when AUTO mode selected

I recently found my old Canon and batteries, and let both batteries charge to full power. When I tested the camera, everything seemed to be working until I switched it to AUTO mode (worked on picture and video mode). The camera says “Change battery pack” and shuts off, but I’ve changed it between both battery packs and attempted to clean the contacts with no luck. Both batteries are official Canon batteries. Please help, do I need to buy a new battery pack or a whole new camera?

Canon PowerShot SD960 IS: Camera only takes videos.

The camera has been stored for years.

I took it out. Charged the battery. Inserted an SD card.

It will only take videos- even on picture mode.

Update (07/06/23)

I cleaned the shutter button and it's working now.
