Canon PowerShot S5 IS: My camera just won’t turn on

So my boyfriend has changed out everything on my Canon Powershot S5 IS it still won’t turn on. The lens will kinda retract out and the screen will turn on for a second but it just won’t turn on or anything.

well...i brough fresh new nimh 2800 amh batteries and uhh my stupid friend broke off the two plastic hooks which was meant to hold the batter box's cap...i tied it up my many rubber bands and it wont turn on...plus i thought it was the sensor was not working or smth...it just wont turn on

My camera lens has a nickel sized scratch on it that isn't very deep but has a filmy, white color to it. Is it possible to repair or resurface the lens or replace it?

In all mode's the photos are dark. This can be rectified to a degree by use of the over exposure option but normally the photo is too dark? Is this adjustable or is the light meter failing?
