Canon PowerShot S100: Why am I getting a Lens Error?

When I turn the camera on, the lens stays extended and the LCD screen displays "Lens Error/Will shut down automatically/Restart now." I've tried turning the camera off and on again but the error still displays. When the camera is off, the lens remains extended.

I keep getting this error and It would be too expensive to send to canon. What might be malfunctioning here?

P.S. I opened the camera and cleaned it's gears on the flash and it doesn't still seem to work

My camera doesn't turn on when I press the power button. The lens does not extend and the LCD screen doesn't display anything. I've tried recharging the battery but it doesn't fix the problem.

My shutter button depresses but will not actuate to take a picture unless very hard pressure is applied...and most times will not actuate. Is this an easy repair for a camera repair facility?

The shutter button will depress when pressed but will not actuate to take a photo. This has been happening periodically but now it is constant. Is it an internal mechanical problem. The camera will still take a video.

My Canon PowerShot S100 doesn't start. When switching on, the lens moves out a bit and immediately back in. The green LED on backside flashes a few seconds. When switching on by pressing the play button, the LED also flashes a few seconds. In both cases the screen remains completely black. Battery problem can be excluded. Could a defective display cause, that the camera stops moving out the lens?
