Canon PowerShot G1 X Mark II: LCD display goes blank when I move it out to use it at an angle

With the display in the normal position it works. As soon as the display is pulled out to angle it the lower edge drops down on the hinged mechanism as designed, but when this happens the screen goes blank. If I use my hand to hold the screen up as I pull it out the display works as normal. I think there is a connection under the LCD which is causing the problem when the screen slides down. I am worried I may break the camera if I take the display apart as I have no manual. Has anyone come across this problem and is there a fix for it?

Thanks

Canon PowerShot G12: Camera image not projected on LCD screen

I have a powershot G12 and I need help troubleshooting my issue. The problem is that somehow the image is not getting displayed on the screen.

When you turn the camera on you see a blank screen with the setting information displayed. Now, for some reason when you press down on the back middle of the camera the display lights up with an image. So clearly the LCD screen isn’t broken. I have managed to take a picture while pressing down and without pressing down. In playback mode the picture I took without pressing down shows up as a completely black image whereas the picture I took while pressing down shows up regularly even if I’m not pressing down on the camera.

I would be really grateful if someone could help me identify the component that is malfunctioning and/or provide any insight on how to fix this problem

Edit: can someone help me identify the type of screw used here. It looks like a mix between a Philips and a Robinson but It doesn’t really looks like either. Using just a Philips heads doesn’t work (I tried).

Canon PowerShot G16: Camera won't turn on after complete dismantling

Hello,

After following Tyler Koski's excellent dismantling guide in order to replace a broken screen and clean a gritty lens (fell off the Kilimanjaro, literally) and reassembling the whole thing, I found that my camera no longer turns on (it worked before, albeit the LCD was broken and the images dirty). I tried :

Using the "Power On" and "View pictures" buttons (all buttons click correctly, but no results)

Checking if my battery is charged (it is)

Re-dissassembled it, checking for any damage to any component or connector (nothing visible)

Reassembled it, wiping each connector with a clean cloth and blowing compressed air in/on any connector and component as I went.

After all this, no result.

Does anyone have any suggestions ? I'm quite attached to it...

Thanks in advance,

Canon PowerShot G12: Wired colours on my LCD. Pictures are fine.

Hi, my canon G12 is working perfectly but the LCD is now malfunctioning. The colours on my LCD screen are as if “polarized” showing only in bright red, blue, purple and white. Also, the image is flickering when I move the screen. I haven’t used the camera in a while and never dropped it. I tried replacing the LCD but I still have the problem. I can take pictures with it that are completely fine once I download them to my PC.

Does anyone know what the issue is? Tried looking online but, I didn’t find any explanation as to what component need to be replaced (eg: main board, CCD, display board). I can find any part replacement online but, I don’t want to play trial and error as it may end up costing me more than just buying a used one. I just feel it’s a waist to throw away a perfectly good camera for an LCD issue, especially after spending so much for it back in the day.

See the video below which is what my LCD fault looks like. Thank all you! Patrick

Canon PowerShot G11: Dust Speck Inside Canon Powershot G11 Lens

I have what appears to be a dust spec on the inside of my Canon Powershot G11 lens and I want to disassemble, clean and reassemble. I took it to a shop that looked at it and they are 99% sure that it is not dead pixels in the sensor. They advised buying a new camera because repair would be $100's or find a used G11 without the dust speck and did lament that the G11 is a great camera, had a cult following and it was almost impossible to clean the innards.

Anyway if it is trash I might as well take a stab at cleaning it. Is there a manual that will guide me though the inner world of this cube packed with technology with a hope of being able to reassemble it?

PowerShot G7 X Mark II: Canon G7x 2 turns on but screen is completely black. No picture.

Hello,

I have a canon G7x mark 2 that was working perfectly fine today for about 2 mins before it went to !&&*. I turned the camera on and it was fine before the camera seemingly “turned off”. When I pressed the power button to turn it back on the camera powered up as usually but the screen was completely black. There was no indication that the screen was even connected to a power source. The LCD screen looks as it would if the camera is off. No background glow, no error message displayed. Just a black screen. Everything else works, sounds, buttons, battery is fully charged. I do not understand what caused this as I said the camera was completely fine before it randomly went into this mode. The battery is new so it can’t be this. I already opened a support ticket but I just want to see if anyone has any advice here before I ship my camera off. My birthday is on Saturday and I’m going away on a trip which I expected I’d have a camera with me for. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks in advance.
