I’ve replaced mother board and all corroded ribbon cables. Every thing works except for the images and on the screen is half black and half green. I think the lens’s surrounding electronics got also damaged. Not sure if anyone has this problem.

Hello, I’m using a Canon PowerShot A80 and recently encountered an issue with the camera.

Previously, I could hear a distinct “click” sound when taking photos, but now there is no shutter sound at all. When I try to take pictures, the resulting images are completely black. However, the camera itself still powers on normally, the menu displays correctly, and I can view previously taken photos without any problem.

Because of this, I suspect that the shutter might be stuck closed or not functioning properly. I also tried basic troubleshooting such as restarting the camera, removing the batteries, and testing in different lighting conditions, but the issue persists.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem with this model or similar cameras?

Is this likely a shutter failure, and is there any non-invasive way to fix it without fully disassembling the camera?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've tried two different memory cards. Both hold 64GB one is SanDisk Ultra the other card is Kingston Technology.

The camera starts to freeze on inserting the sd card and the local repair guy says the problem is in the card slot and not the card.

I am trying to reconnect the LCD ribbon cable to the motherboard of a Canon PowerShot G7, but I am unable to slide the cable into the connector.

The black locking lever is flipped up, but it feels like there is a physical blockage preventing the cable from entering the "mouth" of the connector. How is it actually meant to go in?

Canon Powershot S3 IS: getting message to change the batteries after doing so

I used the camera less than a month ago. Now getting the message to change the batteries and have done so with NEW ones. Powers up ok, but after trying to take pic, gives the change batteries message. Have cleaned the "terminals" on the battery compartment door and have taken out memory card and reinserted.

I was charging battery and when I tried to put the battery back it didn’t fit anymore when trying to close it. That’s when I realized that the spring came loose. I bent the spring when all this happened before I realized it came loose.
