Canon EOS Rebel T3: Mirror is sticking and causing black bar

Hi, Whenever I take a picture there is a black bar blocking most of the image or even just half. Normally this issue would be caused by a failing shutter or the shutter sync but I have determined its the camera getting stuck. When I put the camera down at the ground and take a picture or use live view, the picture is completely clear, when I point the camera up or eye level, the mirror gets stuck halfway, this can be seen with the lens off. Is there any thing I can do to fix this? Is it a bad return spring or some other issue.

water bottle in backpack broke and camera got soaked. Dried it out, worked o.k. for about 2 years but now it is focus hunting and won't shutter. Had it looked at by repair shop, said main board needed replacement. Wanted over $200., I only paid $300 for camera.
Canon EOS Rebel T3: Why does my laptop not recognise the camera when plugged in via USB?

When I plug in my Canon DSLR 1100D, the computer pops up with a the message "USB Device Not Recognised". After clicking the message popup, it said it was error 'Code 43'. This type of error typically suggests that there is something wrong with the connected device.

I've tried the camera with two other laptops, all displaying the same message, as well as using different USB cables each time. I've tried unplugging everything else, restarting laptop and removing it's battery, updating the camera's firmware, installing the latest version of EOS Utility 2, all to no avail.

Canon EOS Rebel T3: Is this worth fixing or should I let it die broken?

TL;DR: Did something nice for a family member who needed to use it for photos. Supposed to be short term, made it a 9 year loan by beating me into submission and then breaks the USB port. Not going on beyond that here, but I’m never doing anything nice for him again. OR letting him use anything I own.

So this happened yesterday when I was called in on my day off, so who knows when this happened - could have happened on a work day and he didn’t tell me until the port was completely dead end but that’s not important - what’s important is it’s broken. In this case, what happened was that I was called in to check it (and by god was this so important I couldn’t do it later) and the issue was the USB port is broken.

So when he pushed it again, I took a look at it knowing full well in my gut that he broke the camera. So when I looked at the camera, I immediately knew but wanted to be sure. Yep… Got a PS3 controller and confirmed what I suspected; he broke the camera. I brought it up and made a hard mention he could buy his own, but he didn’t take that and insisted on removing the card… why I was honest is beyond me. I’m hoping this is an easy fix, but I’m also doubtful because he dropped it once and when I got on him then he treated me like bad blood and I stupidly gave in, so I’m afraid of trace damage.

So I’m stuck with 2 options:

Demand he make me whole and let him keep a broken 9 year old SLR

If he refuses, take the camera back by force, tell him to take a hike and hope it’s repairable

Would I be better off getting the cost of a replacement/replacement hardware and letting him keep it and he can use it until he dies, or taking it back and praying I can repair it?

Canon EOS Rebel T3: Why has one of my batteries stopped fitting in the camera?

I had 2 batteries. Both the batteries were working alike earlier. I started using my DSLR again after a year. One is working fine. The other, however does not fit into the slot. It does not go completely in and gets stuck which makes it difficult to remove it again. I am not facing any such issue with the other battery. What should I do?
