Sony Blu-Ray Player: Push Power Protect repair

I have a Sony bdv-e2100 home cinema set and it is giving a Push Power Protect mention on the screen.

I have tried to disconnect all the speakers and the powersupply. Than I waited a few hours and connected only the power and the error still remains.

Does anybody knows how to fix this?

Panasonic Blu-Ray Player: Won't play Blu Ray disks anymore, only DVDs

My Blu-ray player will no longer play Blu-ray discs. It tries to read it, and then just stops and this message appears on the screen: "Cannot Read, please check the disk". But, It plays DVDs just fine -- no problem at all. I have tried older Blu-rays from as far back as 2007. Today, I even opened a brand new Blu-ray disk -- never played before. And the same thing happened. Could there be something wrong with whatever technology is specific to playing Blu-ray disks?

BTW - my player is the DMP-BD85, not 89, but I didn't see that listed on this site.

I can't tell if this is an actual problem with the motherboard or a software glitch either way it won't let me update the software or play any disc and I was wondering if anyone had ever tried replacing the memory or had a way to remove the os chip and force a firmware update or knew about a problem with the motherboard that would cause this any help or hints would be appreciated based on the Sony forms this is a common problem but mostly people just toss them out I would hate to do that so I'm holding on to it in case anyone ever finds a solution

LG UP970 Bluray player: Bluray player repair laser sled connector

I am looking for a way to replace the connector that attaches the laser sled to the drive mechanism in my LG UP970 Bluray player. The only help I have seen so far is that I can buy a whole new sled at a 50% premium of buying a whole new Bluray player. This seems silly to me as the part can be removed and seems like a 10cent part.

Currently considering gluing the existing part and/or learning to create a 3D model and 3d print this part. The attached photos show the broken part and one that shows where it should go. This is a Sony part, apparently.

Blu-Ray Player: OPPO BDP-93 powers on and freezes at "OPPO" on screen

OPPO BDP-93 Blu-ray player

Symptoms:

Connecting the power cord the red standby light comes on.
Pressing the power button (or remote) and the light changes to blue, unit screen displays “HELLO” then “OPPO , but no “Home Menu”.
TV displays the Blu-ray splash screen but that is all.
Blu-ray drive spins up, laser head moves, does a brief “search” and tray can be opened and closed with button or remote.
Fibre optic light is on.
After 15 or 20 seconds everything freezes even on/off button.
The on/off button must be pressed and held for about 40 to 50 seconds before it shut unit off. At least at first. Now it is longer than a minute before shutting off.

Further Steps:

Disconnected the “Region Free” hardware board, isolated analogue board and Blu-ray drive from power board and from the main circuit board.
Same result with lights and unit screen and TV screen.
Checked laser inside disc drive - works fine.

Unable to find any schematics or repair manuals or parts. The only OPPO Digital ( not to be confused with OPPO phones) service centre still in operation is in the USA and requires shipping the unit from here to USA and then back. No one locally repairs them.

They offered a few suggestions like unplugging from mains and holding power button for 5 seconds, releasing, reconnecting power, directly plugged into power point on wall, etc.

Pioneer UDP-LX500: Disc not being read after belt replacement.

I have just replaced the tray belt as per the instructions on this site, but now the disc is not being read. It seems to load but does not spin and the display reads No Disc. Could I have done something to cause this (it was fine previously once I could get the drawer open), or does something need to be reset somewhere? Thanks.

Hi,

I’ve been trying to fix this device for some time and got some very helpful comments on another platform but that’s dried up so hoping I can get some pointers re where to go next :)

TLTR - I’ve pretty much eliminated the power module as the source of the problem as power seems to be leaving the board via 2 power cables to the mainboard.

I’m sure now its something on the motherboard but not sure what to check. Long shot I know, but if anyone has some ideas I can try, that would be greatly appreciated.

UBP-X800: Device isn't starting anymore.

Strange thing, when the player is plugged in, if I hit the eject button on the player, the drive will open and close no problem. However, the device doesn't actually power up.

This includes when I push the power button on the device as well as on the remote. The power light indicator doesn't turn on, the software doesn't start up, even though again, the drive opens and closes just fine.

I've tried factory reset, I've tried using a different power cable, no change.

I should say that I've moved recently and it was working before the move but not after.
