Hello,

My SSD has just crashed (after 2 years and 4 month...)

It seems that the corresponding SSD is the AData xm11 but i didn't find a replacement easily. But does a equivalent exist ? I don't know very well but it seems that the ones on the MacBook Air looks like quit similar.

Could someone tell me which SSD i could put in my UX31A ?

Thank you very much.

Asus Zenbook UX31A: Flickering Screen on battery power

Hi everyone,

since i changed the keyboard on my asus zenbook i noticed a strange phenomena...when running on battery power the screen is flickering almost all the time. But this only happens when i am on battery power. The screen is also very dim.

When i use the ac everything works fine, i get full screen brightness and there is no more flickering at all.

I am running on windows 10, adaptive screen brightness turned of, as well as intel hd graphics battery safer mode...latest drivers installed.

I checked all the ribbon cables and connections, everything fine so far. It would be great if someone could help me out.

Cheers

Asus Zenbook UX31A: Volume buttons fn f11 won't work (asus zenbook ux31a)

So I have been researching everywhere and I did come upon the ifixit link with the step-by-step guide on how to "lock in the connector." However, even after doing that and taping it down with better tape, my volume button STILL does not work. Anybody else experience this? If so, what did you do to resolve the issue? The same works for when I try "fn" + f10/f11/f12 and I often get a delayed response for the "fn" + f5/f6.

Help please? Thanks.

Asus Zenbook UX31A: USB Type C Power Delivery Feature

I found some ASUS laptop with USB Type C Power Delivery feature.

Laptops list:

ASUS ZenBook 3 UX390UA

ASUS ZenBook 3 Deluxe UX490UA

ASUS ZenBook Flip S UX370UA

These are the devices only found with Power Delivery Feature and also explicitly mentioned in the ASUS specification description weblink.

But, I can't find the clear idea about this feature.

I have questions like

What is Power Delivery in USB Type C?

is it used for charging the laptop or externally connected the peripheral devices or both?

if both, how much power can we get from laptop to externally connected devices?

USB Type C support 100W power delivery, so can we get that much?

what are the power ranges we can get from that?

Hello,

The cable lock/socket hinge on the motherboard of my Zenbook broke off after I misjudged it for one with a slide lock and pulled it out. Afterwards I also lost it.

Now obviously the zenbook has no connection to the touchpad.

Here's a picture of the connector without the hinge: http://i57.tinypic.com/2vxhs3s.jpg

How do I fix this? Can I replace the connector? Can I fix the connector? Could I maybe swap the connectors (i.e. put the working connector from the touchpad on the mainboard and then replace the touchpad)?

Its such an annoying mistake and I feel really stupid I hope you can help me.

Asus Zenbook UX31A: Zenbook Not Booting After Replacing Keyboard

After years of using my Zenbook the keys began falling off and I had the great idea of replacing the keyboard myself. In the process I accidentally ripped the orange strip near the fan which I've been reading is the power supply for the keyboard backlights. No big deal I never use the backlights anyway. Well now after putting everything back together it won't turn on. Plugged into the wall, the power adapter is showing green LED indicating the battery is charged. Would breaking that strip cause it not to power on? Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a dumb question I am an amateur with electronics at best.

Then I bought a new one that worked, but some keyboard bottoms didn’t. I tested and replace the keyboard and now it can’t start either.

I have replaced keyboard in ux32a without any problems. They all have the same fault make me believe I have put something wrong together, but can’t figure out what.

I have tried:

Unplugging the cmos, holding down power

Start up without battery and just power supply

Asus Zenbook UX31A: Asus Zenbook UX31A not booting

I have been trying to repair a Asus Zenbook UX31A for quite some time and would like to pick your brains, because I am finally out of ideas.

When I received the Zenbook it was not booting, not reacting at all (no lights whatsoever). I then started using my multimeter to analyse if the AC adapter, the battery or any other component was faulty. However, it seemed the device was getting the necessary voltage/amps (i.e. 19V and 2.37A), although the battery seemed to be rather low. However, I would have expected some kind of reaction.

After some additional research I found that this device often has issues because of the power button being part of the keyboard rather than a separate button. Similarly, people reported that Asus service had replaced their motherboards when they had similar problems.

I then went on to order a replacement battery, keyboard and motherboard. Neither battery nor keyboard seemed to change anything, which left me with the motherboard. And, not surprisingly, the laptop booted correctly after having replaced it. I realised that both batteries were quite low and charged them to about 40-50%. Later that evening, I plugged in the AC adapter again without booting the device.

A few hours later I attempted to boot the laptop again, but the lights only turned on for a few seconds, after which they turned off again and nothing happenend. I wasn't sure what the problem was, but suspected that it could only be related to the AC adapter, because the most important components had been changed. After that the laptop didn't boot anymore. Measuring the power supply revealed that their were no surges or anything alike.

I am now out of ideas and would appreciate if you could let me know your thoughts, as I would really like to get this device running again (it's only ~3 years old). Thanks in advance for your help!

Okay so the laptop cuts on by power button. System comes on but for some reason goes to Administration password screen with the blue window then me not knowing Administration password I have open the laptop took out the CMOS battery which is also bios chip, but in the process of when I opened it I couldn't find the silver coin looking CMOS battery therefore having to disconnect the KTS battery which is the CMOS and Bios in one. After doing so and cutting back it still once again is cutting on with the power power button but still automatically goes right to Adiministration password with the blue window. Hitting the power button does not turn off the laptop it seems like it's being put in sleep or hibernation mode and pressing the power button on the computer actually held the power button for 4 seconds and still again did not cut off.
Asus Zenbook UX31A: Laptop doesn’t turn on

Hi everyone,

I am a Belgian student (excuse me if I don’t write very correctly). I have a problem with my ASUS zenbook laptop (UX310) which I bought almost three years ago and since last night it won’t turn on but the battery indicator is green (fixed, not blinking) and next to it the light bulb indicator is blinking so like it is in a deep sleep mode but even if I press the power button for 30sec, 1-2 to 5 minutes nothing happens (I tried other buttons also and the pad)… I tried also with the charger but nothing either.. As the battery indicator is green, I suppose that’s because it is still have battery but I am waiting since last night and I am worried about it because I didnt back up everything… I am an architecture student so I really need my laptop..

I saw that on other posts that they were talking about removing the battery but here it is impossible, the pc is very thin, it is not removable… A friend of my father could take a look but I am not really comforted about this idea because I dont want to lose everything…

So if someone can help me, I thank him in advance

Have a good day

Lucie

Asus Zenbook UX31A: My Asus ZenBook UX32A's LCD has a blue tint

I have recently been given a asus ZenBook UX32A. Since I’ve had it however the LCD screen has a blue cast to it, even in the bios. I have dismantled it and checked inside, cleared out dust in the fan system, and checked the connectors are situated as they should be and there has been no change. Does anyone know what it might be?
