Asus Zenbook UX303L: Both fans running full speed all the time

I was doing a hinge repair as on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TfDVjfu...

After I reconnected it, I noticed that the fans are running at full speed all the time.

There are few people with the same problem (https://forums.tomsguide.com/threads/lap..., looks like that reconnecting display cable fixed the problem for them, but it does not help in my case.

Btw. also, it looks like sound device is not recognized but I don't know if it worked before or not (my kid was using it).

Asus Zenbook UX303L: Why does my laptop not charge?

3 hours ago I noticed my laptop (ASUS UX303L) isn’t charging when I plugged it in. I checked the charger cable and the socket and didn’t seem to have a problem with either, so I assume it is my computer that’s the problem. It is stuck at 0% and keeps shutting down by itself.

Asus Zenbook UX303L: HDMI port quit working

I have had this notebook for a year, and have connected as many as two external monitors (using the thunderbolt port and HDMI port) with no problem. I just moved, and now when I set up, with an external monitor using the HDMI port, the notebook does not see it. The control panel only shows the built-in display available. I have checked the cable and the monitor and they are fine. Is it possible my HDMI port failed?

My laptop has been losing screws over time and now I only have 4 left out of 9 and feel like it’s going to fall apart!
Could someone tell me the size of the screws for the ASUS Zenbook UX303L? I know the centre screws are shorter than the rest. I think I need the thread length, head thickness, head diamater and drive type.

Asus Zenbook UX303L: Not charging even after replacing power jack

Greetings,

My laptop had stopped charging although it was originally still recognizing the charger. The battery eventually drained completely and the laptop has never turned on from that point.

I believe I may have caused this issue as I had a power adapter that had gone bad (frayed wire) and I believe that to have caused a short somewhere in the laptop. I do have several chargers as my family owns several zenbooks in the same line and their chargers are identical. After the faulty charger caused the issue, other power adapters did not work either.

I brought the laptop to a professional to replace the power jack thinking that may fix the issue and now the laptop no longer recognizes any power connection at all. The bios has been reset and power up attempts have been made with the battery disconnected/re-connected. I also tried removing ram though some memory is still embedded into the board. A hard reset was attempted as well by holding the power button down for 30+ seconds. No luck :x

Are there other areas here I should be checking to troubleshoot? I would prefer not to have to replace the mother board here as they are rather expensive to replace for this model.

In doing some digging online I’ve read some Asus laptops have a “power chip” that could fry and keep a laptop from recognizing a charger, does this model contain a similar chip that could be causing this issue?

Open to any suggestions that may bring my laptop back to life

Asus Zenbook UX303L: Reversed Polarity on DC Power Supply. Can I replace Fuse/Diode on MB?

Hi,

I managed to reverse the polarity on the DC input for my laptop (cheap travel power supply with adapters). Laptop went out, reboot via battery was possible and the laptop ran until the battery was dead.

My hope is that i just smoked a fuse or a diode protecting the mainboard itself. I took the laptop apart to take pictures of the DC input area.

I have some experience in soldering (little in SMD), have a multimeter and an oscilloscope to debug.

Ordering a new board doesn't make sense compared to the price of a new laptop.

Asus Zenbook UX303L: No Display Backlight. Cable, Mainboard, or Display?

Hi all,

after fixing one of the hinges of my Asus Zenbook UX303LA-R4342H, while trying to plug the display cable back into the mainboard, I accidentally let the display cable touch the mainboard. This lead to a small flash of light and it smelled burnt. (I still had the battery pluggged in.) Now the display backlight does not turn on anymore. If I shine a light through the back of the display I can see the Desktop and also with an external monitor everything works fine.

What do you think broke? Is it the mainboard, the cable or the display? How can I figure out?

Unfortunately, I don’t have any other divices on which I could test the display.

I did not see exactly where the cable touched the mainboard - I only saw the spark in the corner of my eyes - but since the cable is relatively stiff and does not have a lot of reach I think it must have touched the mainboard to the left of the connector.

I already tried unplugging the battery and holding the power button for 30s as suggested on some backlight problem questions here, but this did not help.

Here is a picture of the mainboard:

And here is the output of the CPU-Z Utility:

Update:

I took the mainboard out the check the other side. I guess I found the source of the burnt smell. The burnt part is exactly on the other side of the display connector. There are also these two smaller things further above that also seem to have burned?

What are these broken parts? Is that something I could fix?

I bought an Asus Zenbook UX330UA (there wasn’t an option for this model in the above drop down) in May, and it's had trouble staying connected to the internet since I first started using it.

It doesn’t matter whether I’m at home, in the office, or in a coffee shop ... my computer just doesn’t want to stay connected. It doesn’t even give me a warning that the Internet has disconnected, and when I click on my Internet icon it just says that it’s connected like normal.
