Asus X53E: Asus X53U doesn't turn on

I found a burned-out microchip on our Asus X53U PBL60 LA-7322P Rev: 1A, but I couldn’t find it on the internet after reading the surfaces of the same components PQ206, PQ701 etc. It looks like 740B BV1HC32 , however, I’m not quite sure without a magnifying glass. Could anyone help to recognise it?)

Asus X53E: Screen hasn’t no back light anymore?

So I took apart my laptop to clean it etc,

I was putting the screen back on it’s frame, and I was screwing in the side screws and I guess I might have screwed one in too tight and then black light just went out, if I look closely I can still see my screen so it’s workinh, the back light is just gone. I was going to turn the screen into a second monitor using a controller board and I was wondering if it would work with that or if the back light would still be out.

Asus X53E: Windows wil not install from hdd or reboot disks.

I have had my laptop for approx. 8 years. I keep most things back up so when ever I have problems I always just reinstall Windows.

Now Windows will not reinstall either from my hdd or boot disks. The reinstall process form both is running much slower then usual and it never completes. Form the hdd it says failed and from AI RECOVERY RESTORE it usually gets to around 22% and gives up.

I have a sneaky suspicion that my hdd might need replacing, can anyone offer any help?

Thank you.
