Asus Rog GL55VW-DH71: Graphics is flickering after Windows 10 update

Hi community,

today, I've got problem with my GL552VX Notebook with Intel HD 530 and GTX960M.

After Windows Update was completedly done, I was suprised. The display of notebook was flashing and changing colours. I've decided to restore my Windows via Factory Reset, but nothing happend. I've got some problem like before and I tried these options:

1 - Restore Graphics Card driver

2 - Disable Graphics Card driver (after this way, it stopped flashing and display was fine, but notebook is slowly and I'm not able to use secondary graphics card)

3 - Update Graphics card to the last version

4 - Uninstall last version of driver in safe mode

5 - Install last version of driver in safe mode

I really don't know, what just happend, but I think, it will be hardware problem with Intel HD 530 Card - I need to ask you with better experiences.

PS: When notebook was after restart, graphics card running perfectly to first black screen and sleep mode.

Please, share your experiences and ideas to fix this problem.

Asus Rog GL55VW-DH71: Laptop will not boot despite LED indicating power.

I checked all sorts of problems and see that my motherboard indicates power, but no boot-up. First problem was to clear the cache (drain residual power). That didn’t do the trick. Next was to check my battery. But battery LED indicated that it’s fine. I also checked my connections. And I even changed the CMOS battery. I even did a full-on breadboard test and saw no indication of life in the laptop. The last thing I want is to find out that the motherboard has a blown capacitor or a short somewhere that would indicate a replacement or repair is necessary. Unfortunately, there’s no power button that I am aware of on the motherboard to do a strict version of breadboarding. Any other options? Or do I give up and get a new motherboard?

Asus Rog GL55VW-DH71: Black screen after cleaning and reassemblingm - RESOLVED

A friend of mine gave me a gl552vw that she wasn't using after my lenovo died. I disassembled it to clean it properly and to remove all the little inhabitants and apply new thermal paste. After reassembling it, all I get is a black screen. I was careful not to damage anything but the lid sensor broke off the board anyway. Do you guys think I might have damaged the lcd cable during reassembly or could the little inhabitants have done something inside it

edit: new issue discovered that i thought was normal. it turns on as soon as i plug in the charger

Asus Rog GL55VW-DH71: Doesn't boot up, if I keep it OFF overnight

So, Recently the problem I face is, the laptop denies to boot up when I try to boot it after a long period like 6-8 hours after the previous run. The problem is, when I press power button after attaching the power adapter-

the battery indicator lights up

the BULB indicator LED (which means the laptop is on) lights up

the HDD engagement indicator LED doesn't light up (Picture)

the screen is absolute black, no sign of powering up

the fan is off, the total machine is off, no sound, no keyboard backlit, NOTHING.

I have tried the hard reset process (removing battery and adapter, holding power button for a minute and then booting up only by adapter, then adding the battery). THIS WORKS. Even I have tried reseating the RAM (detaching from the port and again setting in its slot). THIS ALSO WORKS. The laptop boots up and runs flawlessly after these efforts. Works fine if I turn it off and boot up again in short time, like after a hour or after 3-4hours. It boots up normally.

Problem occurs when I keep it inactive (powered OFF) for a long period of time like 6-8 hours. Then again it fails to power up, both by the battery or by the power adopter. I had to open again my laptop's back and remove battery or reseat RAM and then boot it up again normally. One thing I need to mention is that, when this issue happens (fail to boot up after long period of inactivity), after I boot it up doing hard reset or reseating RAM, I see the system time is always behind the current local time, but the date is okay. For example, today I did this effort at 11.26am, but the system time was 5.47am. The date remains the same. I tried to boot it up after I turned it off yesterday night at 12:00. So mathematically, as it turns on normally even after 3-4 hours, but not more than that, so after 3-4 hours, the system time stops working. From the time reading, I can say the system time stopped updating at 5.47am, that means, I could boot it up normally before 5.47, but not after that.

What to do now?? I prefer avoiding customer care unless it is not serious issue. If possible, I want to solve it myself. Can anyone please suggest what to do now??? It is really painful to open the back cover by unpinning 11 screws and unplug the battery and sustain all these hassles. I need a useful solution. So please help.

P:S: Laptop is almost 3years old, so no warranty. I play games without any external fans occasionally. Recently updated to Win 10 v2004 but I don't think updating to latest windows could be a problem.

Asus Rog GL55VW-DH71: ASUS ROG GL553VW not turning on with battery intact.

I could not select the correct device because its not available on the list. My laptop is not booting up after the shutdown. The issue is pretty weird; when I remove the battery and boot it up with AC adapter only, it works fine.

Test Cases I ran:

With Battery, not working at all.

With AC adapter and Battery both attached, don’t work at all.

With only AC adapter and battery removed, works fine.

I’ve changed the charging IC and the laptop is detecting the battery but still not booting up with battery intact.

Any help would be appreciated.
