My ASUS ROG Strix G513QR (Ryzen 9 5900HX, RTX 3070) has been overheating lately — I'm seeing CPU temps around 93°C even at low load (~11% CPU usage), while the GPU stays cool at the same time. Fans are already ramping up hard (3900 RPM CPU fan, 4200 RPM GPU fan) even without heavy usage.

I suspect dust buildup in the fans/heatsink and degraded liquid metal on the CPU die (this model ships with liquid metal from the factory). I'd like to open it up myself to clean the fans/heatsink and replace the liquid metal with a regular thermal paste (I have Arctic MX-4 on hand).

I'm not very experienced with laptop teardown, so I'd appreciate:

1. Confirmation of the exact screw/clip layout for removing the bottom panel on this specific model
2. The correct order for removing/reinstalling the heatsink screws
3. Any specific precautions for handling residual liquid metal safely (cleaning the die + IHS)
4. Whether replacing liquid metal with MX-4 is a reasonable choice for this CPU/GPU combo, or if I should stick with liquid metal

Any tips, warnings, or links to a reliable step-by-step guide for this exact model would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

• Does this model use standard thermal paste, liquid metal, or a phase-change thermal pad from the factory?
• What type of thermal compound should I use for the CPU and GPU?
• Do I need to replace the thermal pads on the VRAM and VRMs?

Important:
Many ASUS ROG Strix G16 models come with Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal on the CPU from the factory. Replacing it with ordinary thermal paste can increase temperatures. Before repasting, confirm your exact model and year (2023, 2024, etc.).

If I shine a phone flashlight at the laptop screen, I can faintly see the Windows login/profile screen. The ASUS boot logo is also extremely dim before Windows loads, so I don’t think this is a Windows brightness or driver issue.

Before the screen became permanently dim, it used to flicker when I moved the lid/screen angle. Now moving the lid does not change anything; it stays extremely dim.

Things I already tried:

• Changing brightness in Windows
• External HDMI monitor, which works normally
• EC reset / 40-second power button reset
• Reseating the RAM
• Reseating the motherboard-side eDP/display cable connector
• Lid angle test

My question:
Based on these symptoms, is this most likely a damaged eDP/display cable, failed LCD backlight/panel, or motherboard backlight fuse/circuit? Is there any safe way to confirm before buying parts?

So i have Asus ROG GL503VD,

As i said on the title, i turn it on then in a few second it turns off immediately without even showing ROG logo.

Here are the events:

1. I hold the start button
2. The rainbow light below the keyboard starts glowing as usual, The light that show the battery condition (battery indicator light) is also glowing, The screen is still black.
3. Soon after, it turns off immediately. Also, i heard a laser gun star wars sound effect in the process. The rainbow light & the battery indicator light are turned off.

Before this thing happened:

1. I shutdown it by using start button (hot shutdown ? Idk the name really). I was in a hurry.

I’ve tried:

1. Plug out ac adapter. Anyway, i still can recharge the battery. I noticed the battery indicator lamp turned red (means not 100%), so i recharged it for a while, then it came back to white (100%)
2. Hold start button 40 sec
3. Plug out the drive (hdd) (Only the hard drive local disk D, not the ssd one, which is the local disk C).
4. Plug out the battery. It’s kind of complicated, because the battery can’t be plugged out easily (you know, there are some laptop that the battery can be plugged out easily, like you don’t have to open the body).
5. Plug in the ac adapter
6. Plug in the battery
7. Plug in the hdd

I’ve tried so many combinations

5 then 2, doesn’t work

5 then 1, doesn’t work

4 then 5, doesn’t work

3, 4 then 5, doesn’t work

3,4 then 6,7, doesn’t work

3,4 then 6,7 then 5, doesn’t work

And etc…

Please, i need your help guys, i’m not an official tech guy, i know little about this thing…

{Operation Failed}

The requested operation was unsuccessful.

Which i am kind of confuse, i already try to install the driver for this new devices which oddly only the Bluetooth that is work without problem but the wifi is still not connected at all.

So perhaps there is someone that could help me for this problem and guide me to fix it ? or should i just use the old wlan card ?

It won't power on the light to the right of battery light flashes when I hit the button... I have recently replaced the battery and before I did so I still had the same issue but the battery light was orange or white . But still it wouldn't power on ... It worked perfectly yesterday I played bf6 on it for about an hr on my cooling pad. I shut it down properly and then when I tried turning it on it had this issue

Anyone have any ideas why this is happening would be much appreciated thank you
